Top shaper MAYHEM and professional golfer Koji Nishii selected the No. 1 from all previous PLACEBO models.
The two men agreed, and the popular model was reissued in a modern version.
The base is the old LAYZ POTATO model, and the shape design has been updated to give MAYHEM performance that exceeds that of the old model.
The outline design has been refined from nose to tail. A long straight section in the center improves drive, and the tail shape has been changed from a squash tail to a swallow tail for easier transitions into turns, further improving control. The rails are soft and thin, allowing the wide board to move well.
The bottom shape is a combination of double concave and vee. The double concave, which starts at the nose and reaches its deepest point in the fin area, is unique to this model, and provides excellent surface gliding and side-to-side maneuverability in small and powerless waves. The vee section in the tail end fin area makes it easy to control in a back stance. The flat center rocker is generous for speed.
It also comes equipped with a dolphin grab rail, which makes it easy to dolphin through.
The wide round nose is ideal for small wave second boards and provides excellent paddling performance, making it possible to take off from swells before the waves break.
This board is short and has good maneuverability, but also emphasizes drive.
It can be used by a wide range of surfers, from knee to head size, and is a model that beginner to intermediate level surfers should definitely try out.
