モデル解説
This "SMOOTH OPERATOR" model is a model in a category that Lost has never had before.
Knee-high waves, which only a longboard can handle, can sometimes be difficult to handle even with a short, thick fishboard designed for small waves.MAYHEM himself became interested in developing this board because he wanted to be able to enjoy riding the waves in small waves without being outdone by a longboard.
This falls into the mid-length surfboard category. It's not a longboard, shortboard, or fishboard, and Lost Surfboards has never designed a model in this category before. MAYHEM started surfing with his four children and wanted to surf with them at spots with small waves where they could surf safely, so he became interested in this category of board and was able to design it.

The "SMOOTH OPERATOR" is recommended for surfers, both male and female, who want to catch a wave and ride it to the end. Because of its length, this board doesn't require much paddling power and doesn't tire your arms much. Once you take off, you can surf smoothly and ride the wave to the very end. It's designed for style-focused, smooth surfing without the need for excessive movement. That's why MAYHEM named Lost's first mid-length model "Smooth Operator." The Smooth Operator is inspired by retro designs that are characterized by their smooth movement, and MAYHEM wanted it to look attractive as well. Not only was high performance important, but appearance was also important, so they used pale pastel resin tint colors.

Instead of the bold, dark primary colors, the resin tints are finished in pale, original LOST colors. Pale pastel resin tint colors also have the advantage of not retaining heat as easily.
The board uses ARCTIC blanks equipped with special wooden stringers, featuring tapered stringers that gradually narrow from the nose to the tail. The stringer is 6mm wide at the tip of the nose, but gradually thins out toward the tail. The nose area, with its thick stringer, offers excellent strength and acceleration, allowing you to feel the speed you gain from paddling or your front foot transform into forward momentum. This tapered stringer narrows toward the tail, allowing the tail to flex and rotate when you push down on it. This is a crucial feature that improves the control of the Smooth Operator.

The original color resin tint finish is made with one layer of 4oz cloth, topped with a 3/4 layer of 4oz cloth cut into a U-shape to avoid the model logo, reducing the weight of the nose area. The U-shape cut is designed to provide two layers of rail strength for dolphin-throughs. Of course, the stance area where both feet stand is also double-layered, so it is strong enough. A U-shaped patch on the bottom tail also adds strength, which looks better than applying multiple patches to each fin plug, achieving both visual and functional appeal.

The hybrid fin system allows you to change the style of your fins to enjoy different waves and styles.

Quad fins are MAYHEM's favorite setup. They allow for turns and aggressive tail kicks, and the lack of a center fin allows for looser movement. For a more graceful, classic style, a single fin is recommended, as they allow for smooth lines and easy rail transitions. If you want to surf hard from bottom to top, try adding a stabilizer to a single fin. This allows you to attack the top of the wave and handle larger waves, making them a great choice for overseas surf trips. Finally, a tri fin allows for performative surfing, attacking the top and bottom up and down.

The outline has a tapered tail width, so it can handle double-sized waves. Catching big waves can be difficult and a little scary, but this "SMOOTH OPERATOR" model has a fast takeoff, draws a smooth line, and the tapered tail makes it controllable even at high speeds and in deep waves.
Enjoy combining different fins to suit your mood and the wave conditions.
MAYHEM's three daughters mostly ride with quad fins, while MAYHEM also rides with tri fins. Enjoyable with a variety of fin combinations, this model is perfect for surfers who can only go to the beach on weekends or who want to catch waves even in crowded areas. LOST's first mid-length model, the "SMOOTH OPERATOR," prioritizes style, featuring a small, understated logo rather than a large, eye-catching one. Handcrafted in San Clemente, this highly anticipated model has finally been released.
