Are you all watching Pipeline Masters?

The WCT's final tournament, the Triple Crown, the Pipeline Masters, has begun! Lost's crossword and Presto's Corey Lopez both finished round 1 in first place! Chris's chances of remaining a seeded player in the WCT next year depend on the results of this contest, so we hope he does his best. Please support him. Every year, maneuvers, lines, and techniques on Pipeline are getting better, and I saw a guy doing airs on a pipe gunboard in the closeout section of Pipeline. It's amazing how technology and equipment have evolved. Is this the URL? http://www.triplecrownofsurfing.com/ripcurl/index.html

The WCT at Trestles has ended.

(Posted on) September 18, 2006, 1:13 PM The winner was Australian rookie surfer Beat Darridge, who beat Kelly in a fierce final. I was staying at the same hotel as the winner, Beat, so I borrowed the trophy and took a commemorative photo. This hotel is the closest to the contest venue and is within walking distance, so it seems to be very popular with the surfers. Andy was there, as were South African surfer Travis Roggie, who rides the Mayhem shape boat, and Aussie surfers Dadj Burrow, Mick Fanning, and Shon Kander.

Andy wins his first WCT victory of the season

(Posted on) June 25, 2006, 11:34 PM Did you watch the live broadcast of the Rip Curl Pro WCT tournament that took place in Mexico last week? What surprised me was the quality of the waves! In the tube riding battle, depth and length were reflected in the score, and boards were breaking into pieces. In round 1, even WCT players got stuck and had a hard time getting out. It's like this. The event was held in La Jolla, Mexico, and it was amazing to see such big, high-quality waves in Mexico! It seems that it has been kept almost a secret until now, but this will be the point's world debut. The final round had already been held, and the waves were so amazing that even a regular surfer like me could drool. The contest started around 10pm in Japan and went on until around 4am. The internet has really evolved, with the ability to send live email messages to the competitors and download highlight podcasts to your iPod for free. The website is below. If you visit this website, you can check out the highlight videos from each round. http://www.aspworldtour.com/ripcurlpro/ Corey Lopez on Presebo and Chris Ward on Lostboard, who had been staying at the contest location for two weeks to get to know the wave patterns, were two riders worth keeping an eye on and looked in great shape, but both were sadly defeated in Round 4. What a shame! There are players who ride the same Lost and Presebo as us, and am I the only one who finds it more fun to watch than the soccer World Cup? The Expression Session featured regulars Cory, Kelly, Okkie and Tom Cullen. That's why I've been a little sleep-deprived these past few days... It's a good thing the waves are small though... haha) This was Andy's first win of the season.

Billabong Pro J-BAY has finished!

(Posted on) July 23, 2006, 11:12 PM Mick Fanning, who won his first victory of the year after a close final battle with Daji Burrow, who has been on a roll recently, appeared to be on top form. The waves were decent in the final, but the event wasn't as excellent as usual. Our very own Chris Ward of Lost was in the same heat as Corey of Precebo in Round 1, and then in Round 2 against Okie, forfeiting his heat. It's a mystery why Ward didn't compete in the contest. Did he drink too much and oversleep? Perhaps he got injured again? I'm worried. It's a mystery, so I'll ask Mayhem about it. I'll report back later. http://www.billabongpro.com/jbay06/results.asp?rLingua=gb You can see the digest, photos, videos, heat results and scores here!
