"Sequel" MAYHEM presents his report on the first round of the 2013 "WCT" to you all.

== ... "Sequel" MAYHEM presents his report on the first round of the 2013 "WCT" to you all. == ... As we all know by now, the contest is over. We searched the internet for photos of riders ripping on our boards. Taj and Julian made it into the quarters and I'm super happy with their surfing. I wish the waves hadn't been so bad in the quarter that Taj fought MB. During the heat, there was sudden rain and rough weather, and I really wanted Taj to compete in the final race at Kira Point. Taji...fins that don't spare any power Slide the board and grab the rail for an air Taj like a textbook. Julian's first big turn, then a lip and a reverse, was the biggest move of the event. Heat with Joel, quarter finals. Julian is riding an FCS2 prototype JW (Julian Wilson)'s incredible slide Every part of this event has been followed by something like this... reckless. But how to control it? Unrestrained. Travis and his amazing B-side float. His signature snaps were all over the event. Brett. Very smooth and aggressive. Julian was surfing really well against Joel - he had power, speed and natural surfing talent - but Joel landed two textbook waves in that heat and there was nothing Julian could do. Cheers to Travas for a fantastic run and to Brett for starting the year off right! I'm so proud of Kolohe, who is still young (18 years old) and how he's grown in his aggressive surfing...his time is coming. == ... The second round of the RIP CURL BELLS BEACH WCT started today, and Kolohe seems to be in good form, finishing in first place after round 1! == ...

MAYHEM presents a report from the Gold Coast, AUST.

== ... MAYHEM presents a report from the Gold Coast, AUST. == ... I've been in Australia for the past week or so. After a few days of building boards at Chile's factory in Sydney, I went to the first WCT show at Snapper. Not Sniper, for now. The rocks looked more like holes in the ocean than point breaks, so most of the heats were at Rainbow Bay. Snapper was a bit mushy, but it looked like fun. Most of the images below are provided free of charge by surfline. It started with the girls' heats. Coco Ho lost two heats (2nd place) but still had a good day of surfing. Both heats totaled 17+ points. Her forehand snap and finishing was thrilling. This strong competitor, Ho, kept going, but unfortunately her opponents rode longer and landed more lips, which cost her the total points. Check out her heat critiques from rounds 3 and 4. Amazing! Coco Ho's surfing was amazing, but she lost both heats despite scoring 17.3 and 17.33 points. Photo by ASP Kristin. On the second day of competition, Carissa Moore took it all. She performed full rail turns that even many of the young male surfers at the WQS couldn't pull off. She was riding an experimental V2-Rocket (size 5'7" 18.56" 2.18" with a super low entry and super release tail design). As Surfline headlines have it... STUNNING. Carissa Moore in a V2 "The waves on the outside are so fun. Everyone on the tour has a chance to get some good waves. I'm excited to move on to the next round. Hopefully, the waves keep coming in," said Carissa after hitting the best point of the day. Photo by ASP Hayden Smith. Maria rode her monster Tiki and looked great, but was eliminated early on. Maria Manuel made some solid turns, but was eliminated in round 3. Photo by ASP Hayden Smith. The men's heat. The waves were a little stronger, with tails flying everywhere. Taj was up first. He seemed to have decided to wait for the really good waves about halfway through the heat. He had a new board with FCS2 fins. The waves he caught were really good, and he was riding them well. However, he couldn't land the backside he caught when the wind died down. The talented pro surfer landed two waves and earned himself a ticket to Round 3. Next up was Kolohe, a 6'0 Driver equipped with FCS2 fins. His high and powerful flies (airs) attracted attention. Competing against the kings Kelly Slater and Dean Sensei, Kolohe chose good waves, controlled the heat, and surfed calmly. Kelly gradually gained points, and finally passed Kolohe at the end of the heat to take first place, as he often has done before. "On a day when the title hopefuls had odd, flat waves that only broke in certain spots, but also a lot of luck, Kelly Slater's most storied guard was there and unyielding. Kolohe Andino and Dean Reynolds' heat was the most anticipated of the day." "It's very motivating to compete against good surfers," Kelly said. "Dean's one of the best surfers out there, Kolohe's starting to come into his own, and it's the same for everyone. They're all enjoying their off-season and coming back here and competing again." The heat between Kelly/Dean/Colo was the most anticipated heat of the day. The real surprise of the day was Travas Rogers' backside attack. Travas caught two waves and smashed into them. He effortlessly executed a fast backside pull, stretching, and cutting long ride. He earned the highest total points of the round. Travis Rogers was wearing the new FCS "ORIGIN" fins. The ORIGIN system is made of faux glass. We've been working on these fins for months, and Travis' heat was the first time we saw them in public. Julian came into Round 1 with a relaxed, confident attitude. He didn't try too hard and just surfed powerfully and decisively to win. I felt he had done well in that heat, but was saving it for the heats that followed. We had shipped him eight boards in early January, but they were lost in transit. After dealing with many people and a flurry of confusing emails and phone calls, his boards were eventually found. He felt confident enough to use them in Round 1. A pink Mickey Mouse drawing by his mother for the breast cancer campaign. In the end, I couldn't find any photos, but Brett Simpson rode a 6'0 18.75 2.38 Driver to land the lip in round 1 and jump up to round 3. == ... That's it. I'll be posting the sequel on my blog, so please look forward to it! == ...

What are your thoughts on Mayhem after the Hurley Pro?

Here are Mayhem's thoughts after the Hurley Pro. Yes, that's right. Kelly is the winner. I think it's three wins in a row. He's won the thruster, the quad, He was riding a hybrid board with lots of EPS carbon fiber. He was riding the waves he wanted to ride, He won because he was better than everyone else. He never messed up and was efficient. And other athletes who have won and lost, we designed for them. We were delighted by the excellent performance they showed on the equipment. Here are some highlights. Julian could have beaten Mick Farming but didn't make it into the heat. If he had tried just a little harder, he would have won the judges' hearts. The resin-tinted F1 stub really let him release the "R". Early release from sliding. It made me realise there were more than a couple of boards that showed off his strengths. His powerful big turns were amazing. His luck ran out in the final minutes when he was overtaken by the winners of rounds two and three. I went surfing after the second day of the event. That evening, I noticed Dusty Payne holding up his new board that he'd picked up from our place. He seemed very happy with the board and we were all excited too. He won heat R1 and advanced straight to R3, where he chose the MAYHEM board and his surfing was amazing. He made solid progress on every wave, landing smooth, powerful airs and even carving. But he chose the wrong waves. He lost his heat. But he showed us he's back, surfing at the world's best. He'll treat the remaining tournaments as "nothing to lose" practice and rehab as he looks to win the Triple Crown and enter 2013. As I said before, Adam Melling really surprised us in this tournament. I feel guilty for not realizing how good his surfing was. Fast, crazy, powerful surfing, he put up a good fight against Taj in R3. He has a Driver P/E (with raised nose and tail ends), a Whiplash TB and an F1stub. I'm going to try and not overcomplicate things and create a few Drivers for the next Santa Cruz. I'm perfectly happy with Bretts losing to Jordy in round 3. The problem, at least in my opinion, is choosing the right wave. If you don't choose the best waves, you can't beat Jordy. Even if you were better at surfing than him (which I think Brett was), you shouldn't give Jordy an advantage. I chose this shot with Coach Gally because they know each other very well. Taj's surfing was amazing, a compilation of all the highlights. More shots of Taj were posted online than any other surfer who caught more waves during the tournament. Every heat...poster-worthy turns and air shots on most of the waves. The problem was, once again, Mick was getting some really good waves, but he kept his cool and stuck to his game. Taj, you can't beat Mick Farming unless you're riding a better wave than him. Taj, you did a great job. I think they rode a variety of boards from the arsenal I made for this competition, It's a very well made product, and the difference between the boards is subtle. This proved that it was possible to easily interchange and use a number of different boards. "Mini Hero" Adriano De Souza. He's a typical board and passionate. He also showed precision and fearless surfing, ravaging the rising stars (Medina and John John). There was a stoppage due to his insistence. In his heat against Medina, two lefts put him ahead of Medina, and Medina couldn't make a comeback. Early in the competition, he rode a right in Travis Roggie's heat, which was one of the best waves of the competition. He earned nine points. In the quarterfinal against John John, who had no waves, he got the points he needed on a barely passable wave. I was so excited to see him on the board I made for him. I respect him and I'm so grateful for his approach. He's an incredible athlete who treats himself like a world-class athlete and makes it his job. He made it to the semi-finals and finished third, making him the best surfer to ever ride our boards. Congratulations to him! If my old friend Christian Fletcher gets angry, I wanted Adriano to beat John John from the Astrodeck team. These were Mayhem's thoughts after the Hurley Pro finished.

First ASP race! Daji Barou wins with the "F1-STUB model"!

『3/5 Update』 The other day, we reported that the board Taji Burrow was riding when he won his first ASP tournament was an F1-STUB, but it was actually a WHPLASH. A LOST surfboards representative in Florida mentioned it on Facebook, so we passed that information on to everyone without question. However, other information said it was a WHIPLASH, so we checked with MAYHEM and it was indeed a WHIPLASH model. We apologize for hastily informing everyone of the incorrect information. Dajibarou wins with the "MAYHEM" board! In his hometown of Australia, He showed off his winning surfing skills from the first round. Dajibarou wins with the "MAYHEM" board! They delivered results in the important first match of the season with "MAYHEM"! I used several "MAYHEM" boards, The board he was riding when he won was the F1-STUB model. Mayhem also came all the way from California to the Australian game to cheer him on, so he looked very happy! Below is a clip of Daji Burrow, who won the tournament on the same Mayhem board as you. What model is Julian Wilson's MAYHEM board?

What is the model of Julian Wilson's MAYHEM board? Julian Wilson recently visited the Mayhem board factory. I came to pick up my board to use for the upcoming world tour. Kolohe and I are good friends and will be touring together on the same NIKE team. These two surfers, representing the next generation, have many tricks that only they can do, so it will be interesting to see how the judges evaluate them. The two athletes are backed by Nike and train like other athletes. First up is Australia, with the first race at Gold Coast on February 25th and the second at Bells Beach. Mayhem is also heading to Australia to see Kolohe's performance and, of course, to give him some shape. The essential model that Julian Wilson had requested from MAYHEM was a total of eight pieces, the details of which were as follows: 6'1" WHIPLASH (2 pieces) 6'05" DRIVER 2 6'0" F1-STUB 1 piece 6'05" F1-STUB 2 5'5" RNF 1 piece It's pretty common for Julian Wilson to be asked to write F1-STUB or DRIVER, so I'm not really surprised. What's interesting is that you ordered RNF. I mentioned it on the 24'S blog before, but you also ordered Dane Reynolds. They're the generation that grew up watching the 5'5" x 19 1/4" VHS movie of LOST. Even today, the world's number one MAYHEM round nose board is a board that everyone should own. Nishii also really wanted to ride one now, so he asked Mayhem for help this year. Round nose boards are likely to become popular in Japan this year!
