…LOST Surfboards has announced a collaboration with FIREWIRE!!!
FIREWIRE, which provides the well-known FUTURE SHAPES TECHNOLOGY (FTS),
…We partnered with LOST Surfboards.
"When we started FIREWIRE, the technology was too complicated and people were hesitant to try it, so we couldn't make the surfboards we wanted. As a result, we had to build our own factory and invest in it. But two years later, we've found an incredible supply network," says CEO Mark Price. "Recently, we've decided to solidify that foundation and think about which brands are the best fit for our technology and which brands share our vision for the surfboard market."
…LOST was the obvious choice. …Aside from the global reach of LOST Surfboards and Matt Biolos' shaping abilities, Matt Mayhem Biolos was an early supporter of FIREWIRE technology.
"When I saw the nev surfboards made with Future Shapes Technology (FST) in Europe a few years ago, I knew I had something I wanted," says Matt Biolos.
And I believe FIREWIRE brought its technology to the USA a year or two after it was founded.
The first thing I did was email FIREWIRE to order 300 SD2s.
But they refused at the time.
So after all the criticism, ridicule and mockery we at Lost have given FIREFIRE, I'm now excited to see them succeed.
FST strongly felt that there was potential and demand in the market.
If it is well combined with our users and competitor level shapes and designs,
...LOST's shape design will be proven to be even better!!
"I'll never forget that email from Mayhem," Mark Price continues.
"Back then, we were barely making our own boards, so we didn't have time to worry about making other people's boards. But things are different now!"
FIREWIRE has no intention of sharing its technology with other shortboard manufacturers. "Some people focus on the beauty of our boards, but we believe that what we have is the most intangible technology in the world, and it is this technology that gives us a competitive edge. This collaboration gives FIREWIRE the credibility of being endorsed by LOST Surfboards, one of the world's premium surfboard brands, and helps LOST Surfboards build on their reputation for leadership."
…LOST surfboards is working on a sandwich construction that combines balsa parabolic rails with Firewire's FUTURE SHAPES TECHNOLOGY, which will be unveiled at the LOST booth at ASR in September. Sales will begin in Spring 2009.
The model to be produced has not yet been decided, but it is planned to be a 2009 model.
