It's no exaggeration to say that the F1-Stub is Julian's signature model. Since its release in 2010, Mayhem has been working with JW to refine the F1-Stub and arrive at the current design. The original design was based on the F1 model, but because the F1 model has a narrow outline, it loses speed if it doesn't maintain the power zone of the wave accurately. To compensate for this, the outline has been made slightly wider and the concave has been deepened to ensure that the board always stays afloat and maintains speed.
Julian's wide stance and deep bottom buildup into his top carves create a thick track line and a sticky turn. His use of the waves and his top action, including his airs, are typical of the new generation of surfers, and I think Kolohe's surfing will improve and he'll be even more successful if he makes it into the World Tour.
The F1-STUB is designed for surfers who want fast, fast, loose, and responsive control.
