This "BEACH BUGGY" model is
Andy's favorite Mayhem board, the "WHIPLASH" model, was a classic and was designed for good waves.
In 2012, Mayhem and Taj Burrow teamed up to change the design.
With added volume, it evolved and perfected into the "WHIPLASH-TB" model, which went on to win two impressive tournaments on the WCT Tour.
Later, the design was further revamped into a new version of the board that Taji could ride in rougher waves, resulting in the "BEACH BUGGY" model.
Compared to the SUB-DRIVER and SUB-SCORCHER models to which it is often compared, the nose and tail are narrower and have rocker, making it a design that is sharper, lighter, faster, and more maneuverable.
The board design of the 5'8" BEACH BUGGY model that Nishii rides is a 5'10" WHIPLASH-TB model with one inch cut off the nose and tail, connecting and adjusting the outline to widen the nose and tail and lower the rocker.
The design concept is to allow for speed even in rough waters, and the fact that it performs well in bad waves means that it will likely become a heavy rotation board for Japanese competition users as conditions become more favorable for riding!
