Ride the board shaped by MAYHEM for this contest.
Focusing on photos of Julian Wilson and Kolohe Andino's heat,
We are releasing all 180 photos taken by photographer Masuda, who accompanied us today.
Magazines and websites only publish a few photos of successful techniques,
There are many photos that you don't normally get to see, including some that weren't successful, so please enjoy them.

JW during morning practice

I used this board for morning practice,
I came out to the game with a different board.

JW gets out from the opposite south side, not from the pier.

Kolohe is also from the south side.

It seemed like JW was very conscious of KA.

Challenge Kolohe's high score,

JW This wave is a closeout so it's a pullout.

I managed to make a few turns on this wave, but my riding didn't make it into the top two.

This one-air ride with a beautiful landing was worth about 7 points.

This was also successful and he managed to ride all the way to the inside as shown in the photo below.

It's a long ride right under the pier.

JW does a high point with three backside turns. If you look closely, you'll see that he uses different approaches by changing the way he turns.
This will give you a higher score than doing the same turn three times.

JW and KA fighting over the waves,

Our hands are bumping.

I was worried because I was involved with JW, who usually doesn't back down.

JW didn't push himself too hard and gave way to KA.

Kolohe is like this,

Decide on a grab air,

Even though I'm in this position,

Make it and get a high score!

JW was not to be outdone,

On the next wave, a deep bottom turn

Fly higher than Kolohe,

Fly to a great place,

I tried it but couldn't put on makeup.

The two of them caught a total of about 25 fish in this heat, making it a heat that was like a complete air show.

Kolohe said,

Carving turns,

He made the decision.

I tried to spin the board, do some air and land, but I didn't complete it.

JW's turn is deep.

These two turns were complete.

KA rotated at high speed,

The air was also amazing.

This was also a scary scene

JW gave up the wave to KA again, and KA tried to go to the right, but

After making sure JW wasn't coming, I went to the left.

KA also didn't ride without forcing himself.

This KA is also amazing,

What do you think? It's a nice photo.

You can really feel Kolohe's determination to pull it off.

Unfortunately, it is not complete.

JW also uses various techniques.

I thought it was successful, but it didn't work.

KA and JW once again fighting over waves

This heat was a three-person heat and the other person was a sea bass, but he seemed to have injured his right ankle.
He didn't seem to be in top form.

JW seemed to be overwhelmed by KA's spirit.

KA catches him again

At this point, KA, who was in first place, was trying to prevent JW, who was in second place, from getting on the wave, so
He blocks waves that JW is likely to ride and get a high score on.

JW also attempted to make a comeback by performing highly difficult airs that would earn him a high score if he made them, but

The winner of the heat was KA.

KA is in 1st place and will jump up to the next round, JW is in 2nd and Seabass is in 3rd so we'll move on to tomorrow's man-on-man round.

JW is the defending champion, having won the US Open last year, so he is extremely well-known and popular.
In this heat, JW and KA fought over waves many times, but don't worry.
They are such good friends in private that Mayhem, Coco, and Carissa all had dinner together last night.
JW had declared that he would not be participating in the US Open this year, but there was a strong request from the organizers,
He decided to participate in the event just before the event. MAYHEM had to make a board for him,
It seems that it was made in a hurry.
So, look forward to tomorrow's report on the US OPEN!
