"SUB BUGGGY-JP"
The SUB-BUGGY is Kolohe Andino's signature model. With a strong rocker and thin rails, it's the WCT top-ranked surfer's current favorite. However, Kolohe is now 21 years old, nearly 180cm tall, and weighs nearly 75kg, with the muscle mass of a top athlete. To make the SUB-BUGGY easier for Japanese surfers with less physical strength and muscle power to ride in Japan's less powerful waves, MAYHEM detuned it to become the SUB-BUGGY-JP. Naturally, this model is sold exclusively in Japan.
The original was a tri-fin board, but to make it easier for Japanese surfers to ride in Japanese waves, Mayhem was commissioned to design this performance 5-fin model, which is sold exclusively in Japan. It is a quad board, but the rear fin is positioned closer to the center fin, a setting that has recently been adopted in gunboard designs for riding big waves. It has excellent speed performance, as if there are two center fins. Mayhem has adjusted the outline and rocker curve of the design for Japanese surfers so that it can be ridden not only in a tri-fin setting, but also in a quad-fin setting. Regardless of the fin setting, the sharp, thin rail shape inherited from the SUB BUGGGY makes it a model with quick response.
If you don't like the previous QUAD fins, be sure to try out the SUB BUGGGY-JP with a QUAD setting. Mayhem's new setting, which positions the two rear fins more centrally, allows for smoother riding while retaining the looseness of the QUAD fins. Of course, the performance with the TRI fin is also excellent, so we encourage you to try both fin settings depending on the wave quality and your preferences and enjoy the SUB BUGGGY-JP.
It's a performance board with a point nose and squash tail, but with a wider outline and a new low rocker curve design on the bottom that's set low, it converts speed into performance without slowing down, and has excellent speed maintenance.
