Today I showed up at LOWERS with the PLACEBO
"SHORT ROUND" FLEXLITE-BOOST.
I was able to hear more about yesterday's contest, so I'll share the details with you all again.
Apparently, Ocean Beach in San Diego, where yesterday's contest was held, had small waves on the left.
There were many Brazilian surfers who competed in the QS, and all the heats were four-person, so the competition for the waves was fierce. He entered two classes, and won the Men's Open class, and in the PRO division class he interfaced in the final and came in fourth.
He competed in all heats on a PLACEBO surfboard, a Japan-only model
called "GOBLIN," and won. His huge body made small waves seem effortless, smashing them at high speeds, so he was often asked "What's that MAYHEM board?" at the contest venue, which was quite a challenge. He told me, "You're jealous, aren't you? If you want one, just go to Japan and buy one for me."
Today, Matt King showed off his power surfing skills, crushing the small waves at LOWERS on his
SHORT ROUND board, which he chose after watching the waves on the wave information live camera.
Just look at the way the truck is left in the photo and imagine how fast it must be going.
Recently, he has been sponsored by Cyber USA and has had a wetsuit made to him through tailor-made (full-size order). He owns four PLACEBO boards:
"GOBLIN," "
CONQUEST EL-DIABLO ," "
LAYZ POTATO ,"
and "SHORT ROUND." All of them are in good condition, and the heavy boards move well, making for great surfing. PLACEBO boards are durable and perform extremely well, so if you haven't tried them yet, you should definitely give them a try!
