Based on the hugely popular "DRIVER" and "SUB-DRIVER" models, we designed a model specifically for small waves. The overall concept is the same as the "DRIVER" and "SUB-DRIVER", but with a hybrid outline mixed in. We call this design the Ripper's Hybrid.
Because it's a hybrid, it has a wide nose and a slightly flat rocker. However, from the middle to the back it has the same design as the "SUB-DRIVER." The tail width is wide, and a combination of a bump and wide tail block creates a slightly flat tail rocker and spiral VEE, so from the center to the back it's a "SUB-DRIVER."
From the center forward, it has a gentle rocker and a wide outline, similar to the Short Round and Rocket. This gentle nose rocker makes it easy to catch the wave with an easy paddle, allows for a fast takeoff, and helps you cut through your line quickly.
It's a good idea to make it 2 to 4 inches shorter than normal, meaning 4 inches shorter than the "DRIVER" or 2 to 3 inches shorter than the "SUB-DRIVER", and add a little width.
It's basically a special board for small waves, designed for surfers who ride the "DRIVER" or "SUB-DRIVER" to be able to ride in smaller waves with the same lip. The tip of the nose of the "SUB DRIVER" was cut and the outline was redesigned, resulting in a wide outline and gentle rocker that makes it extremely easy to ride.
