 ■ PLACEBO "ORCA" model explanation
Softboards such as sponge boards are popular worldwide. Their appeal lies in the fact that they offer great take-off speeds thanks to their overwhelming buoyancy, and that the impact of collisions is minimal, preventing injury. However, cheap sponge boards cannot compare in performance to regular surfboards. I tried a variety of boards, but many of them were difficult to take off from.

You buy a sponge board because you're attracted to the color, design, and advertising that's popular with surfboard marketing, but when you try it out, you realize that its performance is only for recreational surfers, and after riding it a few times you get bored of it and only ride it when you bought it. This board was designed to prevent this from happening.
Conventional soft top boards have the same structure as Costco's sponge board, the world's best-selling board, and the fins and leash plugs are attached by passing them through the deck, just like a bodyboard. The more you use it, the more water gets in through the holes, making it heavy, and it can also cause your car to flood every time you ride it.

However, the inside of the Placebo ORCA soft top board is a real surfboard. Its structure is based on a shaped EPS center stringer, two layers of 4oz + 6oz cloth glassed with epoxy resin to form the deck, a thin layer of bamboo on top of that, and then a soft top attached to that. This makes it extremely strong, and the soft top absorbs shocks. Its structure is completely different from typical molded sponge boards. The bottom is a hard bottom painted with the same epoxy resin as a regular board, so you can ride it just as well as your usual hard board.

The trick to riding this Placebo ORCA Soft Top & Hard Bottom well is to load up firmly and ride on a big line. This will allow you to make large, relaxed turns with graceful drive. When you want to rip, step on the tail and load up on your back leg to move lightly.

The Placebo ORCA Soft Top & Hard Bottom is the softboard of choice for serious surfers like you who surf year-round. It also features genuine FCS II fin plugs, so you can use your existing FCS II fins. The PVC rubber-covered deck takes on a lifelike ORCA texture when wet, providing a smooth, non-slip grip with no wax required, whether barefoot or wearing boots.

The takeoff is extremely fast, and it gives you confidence and space to do things you wouldn't normally do, like switch stances and nose rides! This board has a very high-end construction for a board called a softboard.
The shape design of the LOST "ORCA" model, designed by Mayhem, has been updated with size adjustments. Even in areas where the wave isn't digging, the Placebo "ORCA" has a steeply angled vee at the tail, so you can step firmly on the tail and easily turn into a rail. Once you take off, it's easy to pick up speed, making most tricks like floaters a breeze. All three sizes have enough buoyancy to even noseride the "Hang Five."

The more you ride, the more you'll be able to get the most out of the Placebo ORCA's performance. By using the buoyancy to gain speed, you can make sharp turns. The Placebo ORCA's acceleration performance is good on any wave face, so you'll have enough speed to turn.
The typical sponge boards used in surf schools don't have the bounce back after bending at the bottom, so even pros can only make half-hearted turns without much drive, but the Placebo ORCA is a real surfboard, so it bounces up to the top as well. This gives you more time to watch the waves and makes it easier to time your turn to get into the barrel.

Hiroki, a Love Surf AM team rider and weekend office worker surfer, rode this board for the first time on a crowded Golden Week day and said he was able to catch the most waves in a short amount of time this year!

There are three board sizes available.
 How about a
"Orca" that can eat up even small waves?
It has plenty of buoyancy and a soft top, so it's safe for beginners and kids to use.
If you remove the fins, you can use it as a finless board at the beach where soft boards without fins are allowed, and it's also great for fun situations where you go to the beach with friends or family and everyone has fun riding together.
