The event kicked off at the Olympic venue over four days of good wave conditions.

"Anon Matsuoka"
When Nishii arrived at the venue, he was taking advantage of the short time before the men's contest started and practicing in the morning for the Women's QS1000 event. The two photos of him holding his board were taken immediately after practicing for the second round in the afternoon at Sida Tora. Round 1 is scheduled for the morning of April 30th, when this blog is published.

"Ikko Watanabe"
Yesterday, the under 12 GROM class advanced to the final day.
While sleeping in his car with his mother, he learns a lot by surfing alongside adult surfers who compete in the highest level contests in Japan. He is currently practicing to perfect his air reverse.

"Kay Kobayashi"
I participated in Heat 2 of MENS Round 1, but I didn't get a score and was eliminated in third place.
After the JPSA contest in Keramas, Bali, I was caught in a double-sized barrel wave in Keramas.
I hit my head on the inside reef during low tide, causing a serious injury that exposed my skull, so I forced myself to enter the water without having the stitches removed yet.

So, look forward to Nishii's next report from the Ichinomiya Chiba Open!
