Nishii was recently at the LOST Surfboard Shaping Factory with Matt Mayhem biolos, who was busy the day before leaving for a European tour. Take a look at what he saw. This is a building away, but it's only a two-minute walk away and it's the second glass factory just for LOST surfboards, which was newly built. LOST surfboards are said to be the most popular in the shortboard category in the US, and with the number of custom orders increasing dramatically, MAYHEM couldn't keep up with production, so they built this new glass factory.
This is how I sanded the FCS2 fins. I sanded the FCS2 Performer fins to make them smaller to my liking. It's great that I can sand them myself and change the size of the fins!

This is a prototype board that was being shaped in the shaping room so that it would be ready when we returned to San Clemente from our approximately 20-day European tour.
Here, I'm discussing the design of a new surfboard with Mayhem, and he's making adjustments on the AKU Shaper software screen. The several pink order cards on his desk are specifically for boards sent to Japan. All custom and stock boards produced in San Clemente, California, and sent to Luvsurf in Japan are shaped and finished by Mayhem himself. Proof of this is the pencil signature of "Matt Biolos" on the bottom. Boards sold in the USA Surfship store do not have the pencil signature of "Matt Biolos."
