I went to photograph the second day of the US Open. On that day, hurricane-force swells exploded from the south.
Nishii surfed at Upper Trestles in the morning, then moved to Huntington Beach in the afternoon to take photos.
The closeout set comes in, moving from left to right in the river-like flow that is typical of Huntington Beach summer.
The players were struggling to get out,
"Kolohe" is doing great.
"Eli Hanneman" is also heating up in a good way.
I plan to go and photograph their heat again tomorrow.
