I won't go into detail, but I'll give you the gist.
Mikey Wright, trying to maintain his pedigree in the sudden death round, stared down the line, dove over the kinks like a madman, pirouetted through the air and landed with his palms sliding into his knees, a smooth landing worthy of a score of 49/50. Of course, it was Lee Wilson who missed the point, but it was a small joy to see him raise his hands and smile.
In a sudden-death surf-off with Shane Boland, Matt Meola landed a bold double-grab chop-hop mid-wave, followed by an equally bold double-grab inverted backside full-rotate, and finally a hip thrust aimed at Lee Wilson.
The Ladybirds took female progression into the stratosphere. Led by Raihani Zoric and Patty Zhou, they failed miserably. Their success rate far exceeded that of their male counterparts, and their progression pulse thumped louder than Christian Fletcher's exhaust. Mari Adam came close to becoming the first superwoman we know.
