We've been getting a lot of inquiries about the PLACEBO RNF-ULTRA, so here are our impressions!

Hello, I'm Kohei, a staff member. These are my impressions after riding the popular mid-fish model PLACEBO "RNF-ULTRA" from POLY the other day, so if you're interested, be sure to check it out! The conditions at Kamo River when we entered the water on the day were a little strong offshore from the side. The set was waist-to-chest high, and the shape was good, but there were a lot of longboards at the peak of the outbound wave. The waves were a little fast, but if you chose well, they were well-shaped and had action, making them perfect for short rides! For the fin setting, we used the standard ``MR/TWIN STAB'' for the ``Round Nose Fish'' series. I am 168cm and 65kg and the size of the PLACEBO RNF-ULTRA DURA-FLEX I used is 30.0CL, 5'10" x 20.0 x 2.32. I usually use a performance model in size 27-28CL, and a high-buoyancy model with a shorter length in size 30-32CL. The first thing I noticed when paddling out was that the PLACEBO had more buoyancy than its liter value would suggest, and it felt stable, with fast and easy paddle speeds. The conditions were a little fast, but the RNF-ULTRA has a fast paddle speed, so I was able to take off with ease, which gave me a big advantage over the surfers around me! What surprised me the most was the straight-line performance and sense of speed after takeoff! As it is advertised as a mid-fish model, it moved forward regardless of the waves that had lost their shoulder and were returning to their original shape, and even took me to the section where the board broke again on the inside! Because it has a strong tendency to go straight, it is difficult to achieve the quick, high performance of a performance model, but by bringing your back foot to the tail end, it is possible to perform actions like a shortboard. People looking to get into the RNF-ULTRA often ask me, "Can I dolphin through it?" The overall design is thin considering its length, and the volume isn't concentrated in the nose area, so you can dolphin through it with ease! The RNF-ULTRA is a refined version of the classic Round Nose Fish, created by MAYHEM and which shocked shapers and surfers around the world at the time. The Mid Fish is designed to allow adult surfers over 40 to surf gracefully and with large lines. *Of course, the riding photos were taken by Pro Nishii! https://vimeo.com/328687397 Its unique feature is that it maintains the foundation of the already established "Round Nose Fish" surfboard design, and increases the length without increasing the liter value. This is recommended for surfers who don't want to make quick movements and want to surf calmly with a big line! For a description of the PLACEBO "RNF-ULTRA" DURA-FLEX model, click here!
