Hello everyone. This is Yuji, a staff member. I went to Kamogawa Marquis the other day, so I would like to report on the waves there and a test ride report on the new PLACEBO model. The size of the marquis on this day was about kata. The wind was blowing moderately from the north to northeast. The waves were big and the surface was beautiful, but there were a lot of fast breaks and even experts had a hard time getting through them. However, if you could catch the occasional gap in the waves, you could get two or three actions. On this day, I ended up accompanying Pro Nishii on a photo shoot, and was able to borrow a PLACEBO ZEKE 5'5" for the shoot. On the left is the PLACEBO "DIABLO-X" 5'8" that Pro Nishii used for the shoot that day. On the right is the "ZEKE" 5'5" that I borrowed. By the way, I tried the fin setting of "KAI SALLAS 6.5" with "CARVER QR SIDE S" single + 2. My first impression after actually riding it was that the takeoff was incredibly fast. It was definitely faster than the Goblin, which was considered the strongest small wave model. I wonder if that's due to the outline with its increased water contact area, or the effect of the large center fin, or both. I'm not sure, but it was definitely fast. What is particularly noteworthy about the ZEKE is its strong straight-line stability. The GOBLIN was able to turn quickly despite its high buoyancy, so it was able to gain speed quickly even in small waves, but the ZEKE has such strong straight-line stability that it accelerates even when just going straight. This is probably due to the large fins, rocker and rocket tail, which allows for rapid acceleration even with a slight weight shift. When turning, the elevator wing moves in and the large fin acts as a pivot point, allowing for sharp turns while maintaining speed. The best conditions at Marquis that day were the occasional kata-sized outboard sets, but there weren't many of them, so I left that to Nishii and aimed for the mid-section belly-sized waves. The break was close to the inside damper, and everyone around me was struggling to get through, but with the ZEKE it was no problem. It takes off one beat earlier and then runs sideways, its strong straight-line ability allowing it to overcome the soup, and once it has gained speed it makes a sharp turn for a solid action. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it. By the way, the center fin worked best when it was in the middle of the box. When placed further back, this center fin provides increased stability and straight-line tracking, and creates a strong pivot when turning. On the other hand, if you attach it closer to the front, the stability and straightness will decrease, but the club will become looser and have better rotation. In my case, I wanted straight-line stability, but I was worried about my leg strength, so I moved it a little forward. I think this is a matter of personal preference. You can easily move your position while waiting for waves, so you can try out different things on the spot. That's one of the joys of the ZEKE .
