Hello, I'm Kohei, a staff member. I dislocated my knee while surfing at the end of last year, so I couldn't surf for a month, but the other day I went to Chiba to do some rehabilitation and surf with some Love Surf users on the overflowing PLACEBO ``ZEKE2.0'', so I'd like to share my impressions. On the first day back, I was worried that if I paddled too hard, it would come off again, so I went in looking for a spot with a small size that would be easy to ride. The point I went to that day was almost unaffected by the wind, with smooth water, few waves and waist to belly high sets, near my chest, making the conditions perfect for someone coming back from an injury. I still felt discomfort in my shoulder and wanted to use fewer paddles, so I used the PLACEBO ZEKE2.0 5'9 38.7cl, which is quite overflowing for my weight of 64kg, and I was surprised by all the things I did! First of all, it goes without saying that the buoyancy of 38.7cl makes it extremely buoyant! At first, I struggled with awkward paddling and positioning while trying to protect my stiff spine and arms, but the PLACEBO ZEKE2.0 still had amazing takeoff performance, allowing me to take off stably even in swells that hadn't completely broken up! Once you catch the wave, just standing up will quickly increase your speed, and you can easily clear sections that would get you stuck on a standard shortboard, allowing you to enjoy long rides. Also, thanks to the newly added two-channel design on the tail, when you step on the tail cleanly, you can experience acceleration that feels just like stepping on the accelerator. Normally, the best size for the PLCEBO ZEKE2.0 is 5'5", so it wasn't as incredibly light as a 5'5", but there was so much more to be gained from it that I felt the great potential of the ZEKE2.0! I think the best fin setting would have been a Mark Richards twin stabilizer, but the stabilizer went missing, so I quickly went with a quad setting. Since the waves were small that day, I thought it would have been more fun to ride with the twin stabilizer, as it would have given me better maneuverability. https://vimeo.com/435005454 Of course, it's best to ride the PLACEBO ZEKE2.0 in the exact size you need, but you can still enjoy it without losing its lightness, so we recommend riding it on the overflow to get overwhelming paddle and takeoff performance!
