The custom boards that customers ordered when Mayhem came to Japan in September have now been completed and arrived from San Clemente. These boards are currently stored in our Love Surf store, so if you come by, you can see them in person! We'll show you the photos below, but the actual texture is far better than it looks in the photos! If you are considering custom ordering a LOST "BLACK DART" surfboard, please take a look and use this as reference. Please come and see it before your custom order arrives to pick it up. We have posted sample color designs for you to refer to when placing a custom order. You can choose a semi-transparent "TINT" finish that allows you to see the carbon lines, or a solid "OPAQUE" finish that completely hides the carbon lines, so please specify when placing your custom order. You can also combine these two. High performance stringerless EPS foam interior. The deck is made of a special unidirectional carbon deck cloth that is strong yet flexible, wrapped in epoxy resin. Flexibility is outstanding! The board is also light and strong. The BlackDart surfboard construction is It was developed by Florida-based Epoxy composites mastermind Drew Bagget. …Lost Surfboards has worked with Drew to fine-tune and license the technology. The BlackDart is built using a virgin 1.5 stringerless EPS core. The most eye-catching feature is that the entire deck is wrapped in our custom-made carbon/S-glass hybrid "BlackDart" material. This custom carbon fiber is run unidirectionally from nose to tail with S-glass fiber running across the width (rail to rail). It's not the traditional two-way carbon wave you've seen up until now. This material (i.e. this board) has nothing to do with stiffness. This material allows the board to snap and buckle much more easily than boards made with traditional bi-directional carbon fiber fabric. This board still offers the quick reaction, high response and memory benefits of carbon fiber. There are no problems with the stiffness of the two-way carbon wave. The second advantage is the hybrid cross. You can create beautiful color combinations using tints and pigments. The advantage is that it allows for a very good contrast between the S-glass fibre and the carbon. The carbon covers the entire deck and wraps fully around the rails, but not all the way to the bottom. This will keep the board from becoming too stiff.
