    Model explanation

LOST surfboard shape designer MAYHEM began developing an asymmetrical tail board in 2013, and after many years of testing with TEAM riders, the "Mayhem" model was finally released in spring 2019. After years of researching how to best create an asymmetrical tail, and countless updates, with the help of Kolohe, Griffin, Mason, Nate, Shaw, and LOST Japan, the special asymmetrical tail design was born from testing boards of all sizes.

There are two types of tails, one for regular and one for goofy stance, and each has a rocket tail on the toe side and a round tail on the heel side. The rocket tail on the toe side has a hook channel on the bottom side, which allows you to climb to the top at a steep angle when turning towards the top on the front side. The round tail on the heel side is designed to allow the board to change direction quickly and easily when turning the board on the back side or on the top.

Turns are easier and more fine-tuned on the front side, where you control them with your toes, so the built-in hook channel allows you to push the tail rail more to make a tight, straight turn on the inside, or apply weight slowly and for a long time to make a big, long drive turn.

The heel side is a round tail. This design makes it easier to make bottom turns on the backside, and allows for better rotation and easier control of the board when doing top turns, lip action, carving, etc. on the heel side than a symmetrical tail.

The width of the tail area is what makes it possible to change the shape of the tail on each side. The wide tail also has the advantage of being able to maintain speed in small, powerless waves and slow sections of the waves without losing speed.

The performance and movement of left and right turns are different, making left and right turns more efficient and easier without putting strain on the rider, allowing for more dynamic surfing.

While regular asymmetrical boards have asymmetrical fin settings, this "Maesim" model is designed to be ridden with a regular 5-fin setting to eliminate the difficulty of riding and ensure that it can be enjoyed by a wide range of surfers when it is released to the market.

Whether you're riding with a tri-fin like Kolohe, a quad like Nate and Shaw, or Mason with two small XS fins on one side and two large L fins on the other, they're having fun. The Maysym lets you set your existing fins asymmetrically, or use your imagination to enjoy even more surfing. Kolohe and Griffin also enjoy using it for relaxing private surfing during the off-season. The Maysym is a playful design model typical of LOST, aimed at average surfers.
