    Model explanation

The Round Nose Fish Retro is a design derived from LOST's ever-evolving classic, the Round Nose Fish.

This high-speed fishboard is an evolution of the wide San Diego Fishboard design, with the Lost signature high performance. It incorporates all the know-how Mayhem has learned from shaping and riding the classic Round Nose Fish for nearly 25 years.

The tail is designed for effortless gliding and a wide, retro feel. The deep split fishtail measures 10 inches from tip to tip and is 4 inches deep. This is the deepest and widest split fishtail we've ever released.

The double sidecut outline, inspired by snowboard design, elevates this board's performance. When riding the face of a wave, the sidecut grips the water, despite the retro fish outline, allowing for more aggressive, tighter turns. This sidecut allows you to hook the wave face and turn sharper than you'd expect without slipping. You wouldn't be able to turn as sharply without this sidecut outline and flat rocker.

The outline maintains a fishy retro vibe, with steeply angled thin rails that blend softly with the bottom, and a flat deck. The flat deck allows for a thinner board ride and assists with foot control.

The thin rail profile delivers performance when you want to surf with the rails perpendicular to the wave's surface. Even with such a gentle rocker, the board is easy to turn in tight spots. All of these elements are based on the proven rocker curve of the classic Round Nose Fish, which we've cultivated for nearly 25 years.

The bottom shape features a single concave in the center and a flat front. The spiral VEE at the rear of the fin makes it easy to lean the board quickly and accurately, making it easy to ride regardless of level and allowing you to keep going without sacrificing speed.

The fin setup is designed to be ridden with a split keel or twin + 2 quad sets, so there is no aft center fin box. We created a special logo for this board and the resin tint color comes as standard.

A beautiful, modern, vintage-inspired board with a new engine and transmission, it combines the looks and feel of both (old and new). The RNF-RETRO glides incredibly smoothly and delivers the performance you expect from the LOST Mayhem design.

The model has been generating a lot of buzz on Instagram even before its release, with photos of legendary surfers Michael Ho and Shane Beschen starting to ride it in Hawaii, and young style masters Mason Ho and Luke Davis starting to test it. Surfers around the world have been waiting for this model, and now it's finally here. In Japan, surfers Nishii and Yukawa both placed custom orders with Mayhem the moment they saw the finished design. This cutting-edge fish model from LOST is so coveted, it's a hot topic.
