The first tournament of the ASP Tour, the QUIKSILVER PRO
GOLD COAST starts!

Kelly was also on the DVD of Lost.
Apparently he competes on a fishboard with a short, round nose.

The board he shaped himself is a whopping 5'4" long!
Were you influenced by watching Lost's "5'5"x 19 1/4" REDUX" DVD?
Or maybe I'm over 35 and in the older generation,
Will he need a wider board to help him keep up with the younger generation?
The answer is not certain, but
I think it must be because it moves quickly, is short and quick!
Indeed, if you look at the highlight video from the first day,

Kelly is currently the most highly-scored open-face carver in the WCT, more than anyone else.
Big, fast, arcing, 5'4" and spraying!
This kind of board is suitable for competitions.
Maybe one day it will become a standard board!
Round 2 will be broadcast live from 6am tomorrow morning Japan time.
