This Voodoo Child, Mason's signature model, is modern, cutting-edge, high-performance, and concave, featuring a curved rail rocker with generous single and double concaves.

It has the deepest concave towards the fin and into the back foot. These elements work together to make it easier to generate speed and take tight, aggressive turns. It also allows for controlled release during tail free surfing for advanced surfers.
Other elements include the fact that it extends to the tip of the nose and is integrated into the body.
There is a very noticeable parallel outline in the center.

The wide squash tail has a pronounced bump wing that encourages quick, steep surfing angles and evokes the classic lines of 80's designs.

The back foot rests on a double concave deck, which helps lock Mason and your back foot into the board. Mason's style doesn't use a deck pad, so the double concave deck gives you the magical feeling of "surfing as one with the wave."

Another design feature Mason wanted was the classic 1980s "beak" nose. This "beak" nose is not only visually appealing, but also harkens back to the North Shore days conquered by Mason's dad (Michael Ho) and uncle (Derrick Ho). It also effectively shifts a bit of extra volume toward the nose (which translates to more propulsion, less paddling effort, and less risk of breakage), allowing for a stylish way to lose thickness.

The Voodoo Child's "beak nose" design allows for a gentle nose rocker without lifting the rocker from the bottom, which allows for great movement.

The rails are modern, soft, full rails throughout the length of the board. The tail design eschews the current trend of using a thin, squared-off tail block. We trimmed the rail thickness down to about 12 inches from the end of the tail, allowing for a bit more volume in the back foot area for stability. This allows Mason and you to carve the wide tail block with a very deep concave into the wave.

The concept is based on Mason's interest in the 1980s and incorporates all elements created, conceived and designed by Mayhem.
The VooDoo Child is an all-around shortboard that offers a balanced ride that is easy to ride for both modern surfers and retro old school surfers.
This board contains Mayhem's "cursed device," which cannot be seen in a photograph.
