We are pleased to announce that an explanatory video by MAYHEM, the designer of PLACEBO's "FLEXLITE-LIMITED," has been released.
This is a placebo made with new materials called "Flexlite Limited."
As you can see, the entire top is glassed with "Texalium," a carbon-look fiberglass.
The fiberglass of this "Texalium" is not oriented 90 degrees to the board,
It is mounted at a 45-degree angle.
This direction creates a great flex.
So it's not going to be as stiff as the regular carbon that we're all familiar with.
The deck surface is completely covered in Texalium, placed at a 45-degree angle to create a slightly faded look, and the surface is given a beautiful gloss finish.
The deck surface is a gradation of metallic silver and gray from the nose to the tail.
The lightweight glassing has been adjusted to maximize the balance between Texalium's performance and strength.
That's why it's so light.
This material is very expensive.
It's like a Lamborghini surfboard.
Everything about it is beautiful and it's a special limited edition surfboard made with special materials.
The Flexlite Limited also has a carbon band in the center of the bottom where the front feet rest.
This is because it is the area where the surfer's weight is most concentrated.
The bottom surface has a matte sanded finish.
It's the same as traditional handmade glass style.
The "Texalium" on the entire top surface provides excellent strength and shocking high-performance flex.
Similarly, you can think of it as being based on the idea of the LOST Black Dirt, which has carbon cross glass covering the entire deck.
With its high flex performance, it is an exciting surfboard like no other.
