The event was held at Lower Trestles, a prestigious surfing slope located within San Onofre State Park in San Clemente, California, where some of the biggest names in the surfing world took to the water in 1-3 foot conditions, and the surfers were already putting on some amazing performances.
Featured are well-known names like Bobby Martinez, Adriano DeSouza, Joan Cansdell, Dane Gudauskas, Kekoa Bacalso, Tanner Gudauskas, Dane Reynolds, Kolohe Andino, Chris Davidson, and Kai Berger, as well as local pop stars.
With the support of the local crowd, Andino and Turner Gudauskas advanced to the finals, battling against some of the most powerful Brazilian surfers of recent years. Miguel Pupo narrowly defeated local hero Tanner Gudauskas in the final, 13.63 points to 13.57 points, to take the win. Pupo and many other surfers displayed innovative air and reverse moves on the inside of the waves. The continued evolution of air surfing may be a sign of the future of contest surfing.
