These are some photos taken on a recent trip to the Mentawai. This is a light reef break off the coast of the island of Kandui Resort where Nishii was staying. The wave quality was a powerful wave with a following. The current from the island's bay flows from the shore to the open sea, so you can avoid the current by surfing during times when the current is not strong and the tide is not moving. When the tide goes out, it becomes too shallow, The best time for surfing was from mid tide to high tide. The photos taken by a professional photographer from underwater are impressive.
