This is a factory report from Catalyst X Barshams in San Clemente.
This factory, called Barsham's, is the largest surfboard factory in San Clemente, which Mayhem took over last year. This surfboard factory is located in the heart of San Clemente's surfboard manufacturing industry, with Timmy Patterson, Stewart, and almost all of the other surfboard manufacturers based in San Clemente making their surfboards in this industrial area where Barshams is located. At Bar Jams, you can get everything the surfboard manufacturers' shapers, sanders, airbrushers, and other craftsmen need to make surfboards, including blanks, cloth, resin, sandpaper, scissors, tape, measuring equipment, and more. It's more like a place that sells not only surfboards but also tools for making surfboards. Catalyst, a Mayhem store that sells lost surfboards, moved here as a surf shop and opened last year under the name "Catalyst X Barsham's." The factory was closed on Saturday, but Mayhem and I went to check it out. This is the section where polyboard is glass laminated. All the boards are placed on the rack and will be sanded and finished at the beginning of next week. This is a resin-colored Pisces board that is only available through Mayhem's store list. Apparently, Pisces are extremely popular in the US and are selling like hotcakes. These come in a variety of lengths and shapes, from Chrome boards to adult boards. These blanks have been sprayed with airbrush colors before being glassed. This is a Sub Driver 3.0 Swallowtail that has just been sanded. This is the epoxy resin master, Chad's room, where Black Sheep Builts are being produced one after another. Hello, I'm Kohei, a staff member. Japan-exclusive material! I rode the LOST "SMOOTH OPERATOR" POLYESTER KIRI-FLEX! Why is the "SMOOTH OPERATOR" so popular with so many surfers? I've come to realize this again! "SMOOTH OPERATOR" has been a hit with many surfers and continues to sell well. It's popular not only with shortboarders, but also with longboarders who want to move their surfboard more, and is being purchased by surfers of all styles and levels! This time I rode the SMOOTH OPERATOR in the 36.55cl size, which is 6'4" and is in the usual Japanese conditions of waist to stomach, chest and shoulders, and head, but I was once again struck by why it has continued to sell so well! I was able to understand. I usually ride a surfboard that is around 30cl, so naturally I paddle very quickly and can take off even when the waves aren't quite steep yet, which completely changes my position when waiting for waves!
