Love Surf AM rider Hiroki, whose new board we picked up the other day, has sent us his impressions of the PLACEBO RNF-SNAPPER FLEXLITE-ULTIMATE V, so we'd like to share them with you! During Golden Week in the northern Chiba area, the waves were waist-high every day and the beach was bustling with activity. So the board I chose was the updated, newly developed ultra-lightweight PVC sheet. PLACEBO 『RNF-SNAPPER』FLEXLITE-ULTIMATEⅤ 5'5”×20.00”×2.65” 32.0cl (165 x 50.8 x 6.73 cm)! The fin setting uses the FCSⅡ 'MR2+1', which is the standard fin for PLACEBO's 'RNF-SNAPPER'. The quick take-off performance, which is a major feature of this model, is simply amazing! Even at the crowded beach during Golden Week, surfboards start sailing and paddle out to sea before the waves even break. High buoyancy allows for easy takeoff while avoiding those in the way! After taking off, I was able to control the board exactly as I wanted, and it responded instantly to changes in the waves, really showing the great performance of the high-performance and lightweight ``FLEXLITE-ULTIMATEⅤ''! I photographed Chucky Rigano riding the RNF'RETRO'18 DURA-FLEX3. Even in crowded places, the photographer Nishii can easily find the photos, so that no one misses them. Tailor-made cyber wetsuits, Apparently the color was changed to Ultraman colors! It's rare for anyone other than a pro to wear a colored wetsuit. It stood out well in California and was easy to photograph. By the way, the ``RNF'-RETRO'18'' DURA-FLEX3 seems to be in good condition! The board size I ride is a whopping 28.25CL for a rider of this build (weighing just under 80kg) at 5'3"!

This is the completed version of the movie about the story behind the birth of the RNF board, which had its premiere screening in Japan last December. There are six episodes in total, so stay tuned! We spoke with Matt Mayhem For Kolohe, who enjoys surfing punchy Australian beach breaks, While shaping the new "RNF'96" 5'5" x 19 1/4", Matt gave us a vague history of RNF from its inception. 5'5" X 19 1/4…Century About 25 years ago, there was very little talk of fish boards in the surfing industry. In the fall of 1994, Tom Curren was kneeboarding in New York City. Oh! Tom Curren is riding FISH! It was a small spark. No one (at least, officially) was making them at this point. When Chris (Ward) was 14 or 15, he was a little Curren apprentice. Chris said over the phone: "Make me a fish! Like the Tom Curren one!” And I really had no idea. Oh my goodness! What is FISH? I was around 24 or 25 years old when I went to BC (a surf shop in San Clemente) and just stood there looking at the collection of vintage boards that were displayed on the ceiling. Ok, I saw the outline. That's FISH Swallowtail, twin fin I stared at the wall, then went into the shaping room and created FISH. It's a small twin fin, roughly 5'5" x 19 1/4. The nose and tail were randomly made the same width. 12" nose and tail, approximately 14" wide I didn't have much to do and I was just asking for it. Chris went to Hawaii and started ripping. A small board with glassed twin fins. We started making more and more. Cory Lopez, Chris Ward and Andy Irons. We all got on board with it. They were into it and it was great. And the cameras rolled and recorded a second season in Hawaii, several trips. Eventually, I put all this footage together. Drew Todd said "Let's make a movie using these images. Just use the FISH board." And we did it. Title: 5'5" X 19 1/4" It became very popular. Within a few years, board builders all over the world knew they needed a Fish in their lineup. It's a crappy board made by a mediocre shaper and two kids. Cory Lopez and Chris Ward are still working closely with me. Now, more than 25 years later, we have more members.
