"Announcement to everyone" I introduced this video yesterday on my blog, featuring Nishii and Masato from Surf Trip magazine, and I would like everyone in Eastern Taiwan to see it. Nishii returned from Mexico last night to California, where he is having a three-day weekend starting today. I surfed the upper reaches of Trestles. The tide had gone out since I was checking the waves, and they had gotten smaller. I took the NEW-BUGGY for the first time in conditions similar to those in Japan. Photographer Masuda continues to accompany us closely from Mexico. This is the NEW BUGGY, which allows Mayhem to set quad fins. So, of course, the fins are set to QUAD. I also record it on my GPS surf watch. Nishii has paddled a total of 360km since he started using it last year! It's amazing that something like this is on the record. If you haven't used it yet, please start using it as soon as possible. You'll have more fun after each session. Nishii joined "CALIFORNIA" last night! I immediately went to LOWER to surf, and the waves were waist-high. There were few waves and the wave information was 2-3 feet, so some people in CA said it was flat. The waves were small so it was empty. However, the 2014 US Open champion, Flipe Traid, and his friends were filming and we got to see some amazing surfing. The board Nishii rode was the LOST CONQUEST EL-DIABLO EFC by HydroFlex, available in CALIFORNIA. If you are considering the LOST "CONQUEST EL-DIABLO" model , please take a look at the side view. You can see that the board has rocker in the nose and tail. As Mayhem says on the model introduction page , from the front fin to the tail, The rocker is slightly stronger so that the board can be turned easily around the tail. The rocker design has been adjusted. Notice how the board is thick in the center but thin in the nose and tail. The hind legs always end up on the wing, The width from the wing to the tail is narrow. This width makes the board easy to maneuver. The key to the design is the squash tail width, which is the same as a regular high-performance board. This rocker and tail shape prevent the board from moving like a fish board. The other day, I had the Kimmies Okuyama couple, who came from Japan for work, ride this board. When he first picked it up, he was worried that it was thick and wide, and wondered if it would move or if it would be okay. From the first run, the takeoff was quick, and it was moving so fast that it was in good condition. I received some feedback! Freepe said, "That's a really fast board!" Recently, when the waves are really small I ride the "SHORT ROUND" model, and when the size is big I ride the "CONQUEST EL-DIABLO" model, so I've been riding these two models exclusively. Since the takeoff can be done while the waves are still rolling, you can save time before the first turn. There is a difference of a few seconds in observing the waves and predicting how they will break. The great thing about the CONQUEST EL-DIABLO model is that it can handle a single wave well. You can surf with constant speed, even on slow sections of waves like this. The ability to slash is another great feature of the CONQUEST EL-DIABLO model. The more you get used to it, the more you can control the board. It's no wonder Mayhem spent so much time developing and test riding it to perfect it.
