Check out these photos of Cory Lopez riding the Placebo ISLANDER FLEXLITE-TURBO. Photo by Hayato Masuda. Cory, who came to San Clemente from Florida for the US Open, said he was going to surf at LOWERS. Please take a look at the photos I took. On this day, Corey showed up with the 5'11" ISLANDER model and the 5'7" V3ROCKET model. The wax is of course "FU WAX" . Of the boards I brought, the one I chose was the 5'11" "ISLANDER" model. Taking advantage of his long arms, he performed layback huck turns many times. The new FLEXLITE-TURBO has a carbon bottom. He said it felt much better than the original FLEXLITE, which didn't have any carbon fiber. Even though he's 35 years old, Corey still surfs fast and never slows down. The ISLANDER model was developed as a model to ride when there is a certain size, This is a board that can be ridden in bigger wave conditions than usual. If you are on an overseas surf trip or on a typhoon or grand swell day, you can ride big waves safely and comfortably. Corey's specialty is the layback, where he falls over and then gets up. This curved turn, where the nose is twisted all the way from here, is also a specialty of his. Everyone is watching! From the peak, Ward was riding the best waves on the right and Cory on the left. This is the Placebo version of the lost F1-STUB model , the ISLANDER model. He also nailed the air with ease. Nishii filmed Cory's surfing this round on video, so please look forward to it!

At the Long Beach Convention Center At a trade show called AGENDA, LOST, led by Shaper Mayhem, who won the US Open for two consecutive years, was also exhibiting. Take a look at what happened. This AGENDA exhibition is getting bigger with each passing year. Cutting-edge brands, mainly from LA, had booths divided into surf, skate, and street areas. Among them, there were many new brands exhibiting in socks, headphones, bikes and clothing, aiming to come in second place. This is the LOST booth. Unlike previous ASR shows, this exhibition is not about booth decoration, but rather about the content. LOST staff member Paul shows us a new model currently under development. On the left is a wooden deck, in the middle is a deck with glitter glitter, and on the right is new resin work. A mannequin display with a resin work theme. This is from Australia, called "Lazy Gringo," which is different from "Lucky Busters." Glasser's technique! It's colorful and cool. We will introduce "Lazy Gringo" in a future blog post.
Learn moreHere's what an average middle-aged surfer thinks about riding the Rays Orca!
==================================================== We received some feedback from a popular, average middle-aged surfer about his experience riding the Rays Orca. We will introduce it with a few photos. Even if you haven't considered the Rays Orca yet, this is a must-see! Here you go! ==================================================== Do you all remember? A report on "An ordinary middle-aged surfer tries out the new super small wave model." http://www.luvsurf.co.jp/24sblog/?p=18677 Here I was riding a 5'4" Couch Potato with Love Surf rider Hiroki and a 5'8" Rays Orca, and to be honest the Couch Potato was in great condition, so I rode it all the time. I was having fun riding it until I got over the top of the Shonan reef. The only drawback is that people often ask me if I'm the guy from the Love Surf blog. The color stands out, so I can't do anything careless. Speaking of the Rays Orca, I haven't ridden it at all since this test ride. During this test ride, the Couch Potato still had rocker, but the Rays Orca was almost completely flat. I have a habit of standing up front, so sometimes the nose would sink. I had a preconceived notion that it would be easy to pearl, so I ended up not riding it. Nishii-san said, "Of the 2013 Precebo models, the Rays Orca was the one that surprised me because it felt so good," but I thought, well, he's a pro, so he's not like an ordinary old guy. By the way, I've lost a little weight and am now at 68.5 kg. However, Hiroki said "This board might be better with a tri-fin. Also, make sure you put your back foot as far behind the tail as possible." That was the only thing that remained in my head. Then in July... a typhoon hit the Kanto region. My friends and I decided to go on a surfing training camp, but the wave forecast said it might be closed, so we were unsure which board to take. As expected, if the waves get really big, it'll be tough for a couch potato to dolphin through. So, I thought about what to do if a big one came... there were many options, but I decided, "Okay, I'll go with the Rays Orca. If it doesn't work out, I'll sell it to Mr. X, who said he wants it." Three days of love and death with the Rays Orca!! Let me start with the conclusion. I'm sorry, Rays Orca!!! I'll follow you forever!!! When I arrived, the wave size was over my head according to the wave information. However, the set was about this size. I changed to try fins. The sea was pretty empty. There were about five people out in the open. It was physically impossible to go long. If you got hit, you'd have to go out in the current from the side of the breakwater to get out. There were only a few people out in the open, and one of them was a skilled guy. I was using a 5'8" Rays Orca, but the rails were thin and the CL value was a little higher than the 5'8" Tablet, but the buoyancy felt exactly the same or even less. Dolphin was easy. The set came... and I started paddling... Wow. Takeoff is fast. This is something that all older guys can say, but small waves are hard for me, but big waves are easy if I have guts. My body doesn't move as quickly as younger people, but the surface is wide in big waves, so I just need to move around a lot. The Raise Orca takes off quickly even on big sets, so I stand up slowly. This helps me decide on the position of my feet. Like Hiroki said, I step back and lower my back foot all the way to the back. It feels like I'm stepping firmly on the deck patch. But looking at the photo, it looks good even further back. (sweats) Ohhh, it's going, it's going. A board without rocker can go really fast!! There's no resistance... My friend took some photos for me on the shore, and I got a few in the photos. But it wasn't a set. Actually, when my friend came in after that, he caught a few big ones, but of course he didn't take any photos. (I regret it.) Finn: I definitely prefer the try. We took off lightly... Run, run!! Here we go... Set!!! Here we go!! Sorry. I'm just an average guy, so please forgive me. The nose isn't as wide as the Fish Quest, so it's easy to get up vertically. The tail is narrow, so it's easy to turn. And the rails are thin, so it's very easy to put in. At first glance, it looks like a loose board like a skating board, but when you try it out, it doesn't seem like that at all. However, it's insanely good. The takeoff is quicker than with a tablet, so your stance is always set. Once your stance is set, pearling is no longer an issue (obviously). The next day, the size was even bigger, but I was still riding with a lot of energy. It was like I was possessed by something... I think I'll use this when I go to Bali too. I can even ride Uluwatu (though I can't ride it when it's big lol), and I'm sure Balian and Medewi will be fun. I'll say it again. Rays Orca is amazing!! I'll be using it for a while, so please keep it up!! ==================================================== What did an average middle-aged surfer think of riding the Rays Orca? It's helpful to hear that you can ride even with your head over the shoulder. The board is designed to be thinner than the original LOST ORCA model, which is designed for ultra-small waves. The riding feel is completely different, and the board has rails just like a normal board, so it's designed to handle big waves. Nishii has been riding a 5'8" board recently and is doing well, so I recommend it. For more information about Placebo's "LAYZ ORCA" model, please see this model introduction page. http://www.luvsurf.co.jp/models/placebo/layz-orca You can also purchase it from our web store here. http://www.luvsurf.co.jp/store/16021/ ====================================================
Learn moreOn the final day of the US OPEN, the LOST MAYHEM board won both the men's and women's competitions!
This is a report from the final day of the US Open. I think you already know the result. Kolohe and Mike P before Adriano's heat MAYEHM You look worried. Kolohe continued to focus on his heat as he did yesterday and won easily! Carissa made it through to the semi-finals with a string of high points! Alejo defeats Nat Young in the quarter finals! Kolohe is fired up for the final Carissa also enjoys riding the MAYHEM board. Kolohe looks happy after beating Adriano I always put air in. This was a failure, but it was amazing. I'd love to see some photos from underwater photographers. It's amazing how many people are coming. You can't count them. MAYHEM being interviewed after the final heat It looks like Alejo Moniz's magic board is pretty much up to snuff. Taylor Wright came from behind in the semi to finish third. Kolohe and his coach Mike P. look back on the heat after it finished. Alejo after the final heat Noah surfed every morning of the contest, just like Kolohe did a few years ago. A US Open specialty: dusty crowds From the pier towards Main Street Even those in the gallery who were supposed to be sitting during the final could not see the final unless they stood. In the women's category, Carissa Moore won her second US Open title! Alehomonet and the LOST MAYHEM board that won the MENS ASP PRIME event! The winners of both the men's and women's competitions were athletes riding the same LOST MAYHEM boards as you all. Kolohe was eliminated from the final heat as no waves came in the last 10 minutes and he was unable to catch any waves. I wanted Kolohe to win, but no matter who won the final, the rider riding the LOST MAYHEM board would be the winner. Following last year's JW, I'm very happy that the LOST MAYHEM board has won the US OPEN for the second year in a row.

Check out the photos from Julian Wilson's heat at the US Open. Photo by Hayato Masuda There is an oil drilling site off the coast of HB. The pier is packed with photographers. I need to get a spot to shoot early in the morning. There was cloud cover in the morning and a few minutes of light rain. Anyway, the gallery looks like this: There is a bicycle parking area under the pier. It's a SURF-spec FIAT. It's the same board as yesterday. JW was aiming for the left wave where yesterday's high point was. The top is also hollowed out, so the spray is flying. His style is not to stretch his body out here. This ride with its deep turns earned me a 9 point. The waves were bigger than yesterday, but the SET waves were closing out so I chose medium-sized waves. His low stance on the backside, with his arms open and balanced, is exemplary posture. I continued to challenge Showbit Air yesterday. "JW", using the new FCS2 plug, won easily. After the heat ends, JW is bombarded with signs like this and is unable to move. The local flight attendants will now be facing the morning of Saturday, July 27th. In Round 4 of the MENS, Kolohe and Julian will have a man-on-man rematch on the LOST MAYHEM board. The heat will start at around 0:30 Japan time on Sunday, July 28th. In the women's section, there will also be a LOST MAYHEM board showdown between "Coco" and "Carissa", Don't miss the live broadcast!
Learn moreA report on the riders riding MAYHEM boards at the VANS US OPEN.
A report on the riders riding MAYHEM boards at the VANS US OPEN. Of the 16 MENS players, only four have advanced to the finals so far. There are 3 women out of 8. Photo by Hayato Masuda I got up at 5am and finished setting up. There was no one around, but as time went on, there was less space to sit. Kolohe appears! Coco Ho also practices in the morning, and of course it's on a MAYHEM board. Carissa is also in the morning practice group. He is Brazilian Alejo Moniz Mike Parsons, a former WCT surfer and Kolohe's coach, and Kolohe's board Both are FCS2 plugs. Kolohe and Mike were full of energy and you could see they were concentrating before their heat. Kolohe was taking off on most of the waves that came his way. On the other hand, JW carefully chose his waves. Kolohe performing tricks without fear of a wipeout JW was attacking the left wave from the backside again today. JW had many rides where he couldn't decide on the finish. If JW's last ride had been 7.5 points or more, he would have been able to turn the tables. Kolohe before the score for JW's Last Ride was announced Last year's winner was defeated due to lack of points. He looks disappointed. We will report on this board, which has a new system, at a later date. Even though he lost, JW was bombarded with signs and KA was on the table. This KA board is 5'10". JW/FCS2/DAKIN LEASH Next up is Ginger Lawson I tried my best but I lost in this round. He's this guy with blue eyes. This is Alejo. I was losing until the last few minutes, but I made a comeback with my last ride! We'll be playing Nat Young in tomorrow's quarterfinals. Taylor Wright, riding a SUB-DRIVER magic board in the women's category. She won. Moving on to tomorrow's semi-final. Apparently, he treasures this board. It has turned yellow. Carissa in a best friend showdown with Coco. Coco couldn't catch a good wave, It was a heat where only Carissa was catching waves. Carissa makes good use of the right of way and doesn't let Coco get in the way. They're best friends, but they're also opponents in the game. With Carissa who won easily, Coco, who lost, is especially popular with girls. She came up with a smile on her face. So stay tuned for tomorrow's report on the final day!
Learn more180 photos of JW and KA from "US OPEN" Photo by Hayato Masuda.
Ride the board shaped by MAYHEM for this contest. Focusing on photos of Julian Wilson and Kolohe Andino's heat, We are releasing all 180 photos taken by photographer Masuda, who accompanied us today. Magazines and websites only publish a few photos of successful techniques, There are many photos that you don't normally get to see, including some that weren't successful, so please enjoy them. JW during morning practice I used this board for morning practice, I came out to the game with a different board. JW gets out from the opposite south side, not from the pier. Kolohe is also from the south side. It seemed like JW was very conscious of KA. Challenge Kolohe's high score, JW This wave is a closeout so it's a pullout. I managed to make a few turns on this wave, but my riding didn't make it into the top two. This one-air ride with a beautiful landing was worth about 7 points. This was also successful and he managed to ride all the way to the inside as shown in the photo below. It's a long ride right under the pier. JW does a high point with three backside turns. If you look closely, you'll see that he uses different approaches by changing the way he turns. This will give you a higher score than doing the same turn three times. JW and KA fighting over the waves, Our hands are bumping. I was worried because I was involved with JW, who usually doesn't back down. JW didn't push himself too hard and gave way to KA. Kolohe is like this, Decide on a grab air, Even though I'm in this position, Make it and get a high score! JW was not to be outdone, On the next wave, a deep bottom turn Fly higher than Kolohe, Fly to a great place, I tried it but couldn't put on makeup. The two of them caught a total of about 25 fish in this heat, making it a heat that was like a complete air show. Kolohe said, Carving turns, He made the decision. I tried to spin the board, do some air and land, but I didn't complete it. JW's turn is deep. These two turns were complete. KA rotated at high speed, The air was also amazing. This was also a scary scene JW gave up the wave to KA again, and KA tried to go to the right, but After making sure JW wasn't coming, I went to the left. KA also didn't ride without forcing himself. This KA is also amazing, What do you think? It's a nice photo. You can really feel Kolohe's determination to pull it off. Unfortunately, it is not complete. JW also uses various techniques. I thought it was successful, but it didn't work. KA and JW once again fighting over waves This heat was a three-person heat and the other person was a sea bass, but he seemed to have injured his right ankle. He didn't seem to be in top form. JW seemed to be overwhelmed by KA's spirit. KA catches him again At this point, KA, who was in first place, was trying to prevent JW, who was in second place, from getting on the wave, so He blocks waves that JW is likely to ride and get a high score on. JW also attempted to make a comeback by performing highly difficult airs that would earn him a high score if he made them, but The winner of the heat was KA. KA is in 1st place and will jump up to the next round, JW is in 2nd and Seabass is in 3rd so we'll move on to tomorrow's man-on-man round. JW is the defending champion, having won the US Open last year, so he is extremely well-known and popular. In this heat, JW and KA fought over waves many times, but don't worry. They are such good friends in private that Mayhem, Coco, and Carissa all had dinner together last night. JW had declared that he would not be participating in the US Open this year, but there was a strong request from the organizers, He decided to participate in the event just before the event. MAYHEM had to make a board for him, It seems that it was made in a hurry. So, look forward to tomorrow's report on the US OPEN!
