Learn moreTake a look at the test drive event held today at Kugenuma Beach in Shonan.
We gathered at 6am this morning and set up a total of 40 LOST & Placebo test boards. We lined up the boards in preparation for the start at 8am. Install 40 fins. Staff from other manufacturers and the organizers, Murasaki, helped out efficiently. This is what it looks like when the fins are installed before test rides arrive. The flag is set up and the set is complete. Looking from the sea side, it looked like this and there were many other manufacturers there as well. Kugenuma Beach around noon. The waves were good and the weather was nice, so many people were enjoying surfing. Those who have tried all sizes of TITAN and compared them, Those who have been aiming to ride only new models such as SUB-SCORCHER2, It was crowded, so some people had experienced the rumored super fast takeoff, This 5'4" COUCH POTATO was very popular. The waves are waist-high like this. Everyone was seriously trying out different boards to decide which one to ride next. Of course, you can also apply FU WAX as much as you like. If you are using it for the first time, you can experience the difference in performance between the 3D grip and other waxes. They were surprised. The BEACH BUGGY was a popular new model for test rides by people who ride the SUB-DRIVER or SUB-SCORCHER. After all, this board COUCH POTATO is not a thick board, Everyone takes off quickly, but when it starts moving they give their feedback. Everyone who tried it gave this COUCH POTATO rave reviews. The BEACH BUGGY model is very popular. Nishii also recommends that you try out the CORK board at least once. Mr. Sugiyama from the Chigasaki store was attracting attention with his 5'8" TABLET. After test riding it, this person said, "This board is magic. Please sell it to me." The COUCH POTATO was so popular that people had to line up to get on it. And it has the take-off performance that rivals the long-distance LOST ORCA model, which was developed specifically for Shonan. It has been well received because anyone can experience the ability to ride waves all the way to the inside. To all the customers who came to the test ride event today, the event staff, and the various board manufacturers, Thank you for your hard work!!
Learn moreJohn John's 10P ride proves the 3D absorption effect of FU WAX!
The WCT Oakley Pro started at Keramas in Bali the day before yesterday. In round 2, Brett Simpson had bad luck with no waves at all, and was eliminated due to an incomplete performance. He showed good surfing, Kolohe Andino was also unexpectedly defeated in round 2 today. The next match is at Teahupo'o so let's do our best. I hope he does well in the upcoming WCT at LOWERS in September. He looks to be in good shape riding a MAYHEM board. Taji is still winning, so please support him. Then, John John, who had just returned from injury, did a single air on the first day, just like Kelly. It was awarded 10 points, and people are already saying that it's all thanks to "FUWAX." It's not only very tall, but also has incredible sideways jumps. Here is John John's riding, which proves the 3D effect of the high-performance ``FUWAX.'' If you haven't seen it yet, and even if you have already seen it, please take another look. Even when the board is upright in the air, it stays attached to your feet. Learn moreAs expected, the quad allows for a looser board turn at the top, which Nishii preferred over the TRI.
The previous model of COUCH POTATO, the blue one, is a bottom feeder. The yellow model currently under development is a limited edition for the new Japan market, and features a tapered tail that tapers from the side fins. You can clearly see that it's an outline. I tried out the MAYHEM SURFINZ fins in a quad set. As expected, the quad had a looser board turn at the top, which Nishii preferred over the TRI. The nose of the yellow one is also thinner than the white one. At the LOST surfboard factory, we saw some boards that had been shaped for professional surfers for the US Open at the end of July, so take a look. Nate Iyoman has the 6'1" WHIPLASH-TB and the 6'0" V2. Both of Evan Geiselman's rods were the 5'11" WHIPLASH-TB models. All four Julian models are F1-STUB models, ranging in size from 5'11.5" to 6'1". Brad Simpson was the 6'1" WHIPLASH-TB model. Kolohe not only ordered his usual DRIVER, but also a 6'1" F1-STB. A back view of Johnny calmly lapping his board at Lost Surfboard. These are four boards by Ian Walsh. This is Cory's board that will be sent to Florida. This is the 6'1" and 6'2" WHIPLASH-TB model.
Learn moreCheck out the prototype board of the new Japan-exclusive model currently under development.
This is a prototype board currently in development, shaped by Mayhem for testing purposes. With a semi-rounded nose and squashed tail outline, this board has thin rails. The rail shape feels one size thinner from nose to tail. The base is the US version of the LAYZYBOY, which can ride larger waves than the COUCH POTATO. This is the bigger brother board of CP that offers more driving than the COUCH POTATO. At 5'5" and 26.5cl, it can be said to be an adult board with buoyancy similar to the COUCH POTATO. Completely different from the CP, this board has rocker similar to the SUB-SCOCHER and SUB-DRIVER. The nose rocker also prevents pearling when taking off from a pocket of a large wave like this. It's designed to be thin, although it's hard to tell from the photo. Of course, I also applied FUWAX BASE to this, and it looked like this. Create a fine, even base coat layer, Apply FU WAX WARM and finish by applying it until it forms threads like this, being careful not to apply too much. I set up the AUROLA CHARGER fins as a tri-fin set. Certainly, the turn is extended normally like a slightly shorter SUB type shortboard, Although it's not quite as good as the COUCH POTATO, it retains its paddle performance and is easy and fast to take off. I wanted to adjust the size and make it a little narrower to improve mobility. For a width of 20", 5'5" seems like a good length, but it might be better to narrow the width and make it another inch longer. Nishii's high performance regular boards are 5'10~5'9", SUB series: 5'7" to 5'8" RNF type: 5'4" COUCH PTATO is 5'2". QUAD seems fine too, so I'll continue testing.
Learn moreThis is my first time riding my second personal board, the SUB-DRIVER-JP model.
Today I'm riding my second personal board, the SUB-DRIVER-JP model, for the first time. The tail area is wider than the SUB-DRIVER and the board is thicker in the center. This is a photo of the product after just applying the FU WAX BASE COAT. It is designed to be applied in finer, flatter particles than other manufacturers' base coats. The fins are set to WARD3. The SUB-DRIVER-JP model has a lot of volume across the board, so the paddle moves forward well and it has the fastest takeoff of all the DRIVER models. Today's waves were coming from the south, but they were gradually getting smaller, so choosing the "SUB-DRIVER-JP" model was the right choice. The board Masaki is riding in the photo is the "SUB-SCORCHER2" model. We went undercover at the LOST surfboard factory. Mayhem is currently on a business trip to Costa Rica. This is a custom-ordered board from Japan that was finished before the business trip. This is the XTR 3D CARBOLIC specification of the SUB-SCORCHER2 model. This is Kolohe's board in the MAYEHM office. The model was "DRIVER." This is the nostalgic "FLASH BACK" model. The fin was broken and about to break. There were also some broken Kolohe boards lying around. Starting in June, we will be using a red order form for orders from Japan. They made it so that it would be easy to find and that it would be clear that it is a special board with a Japanese finish that differentiates it from other boards made in the US. This will improve delivery times and allow us to deliver boards to everyone more quickly and reliably than before. I'll report back tomorrow.

Latest news from LOST surfboards! Nishii has been in CALIFORNIA for a few days. The person in charge of setting up the AKU machine to cut the foam is MAYHEM's younger brother. Here, LOST's original foam cutting machine, the "DSD," is still in use and is mainly used to cut center stringer boards. Since last year, we have been receiving many orders for colorful boards in California. The boards that have been shaped are lined up and will be sent to the glass lamination factory. These are sample colors of the new LOST mark. It's not yet available for production use, but we'll let you know as soon as it's available. The V2-ROCKET model mark has been cut short. We will announce why it was shortened at a later date, so stay tuned! After arriving in CA, the south swell started to come in. The waves have been good every day. FU WAX uses WARM water temperature. The board I'm riding is in great condition, so I ordered a clone board for it, the second one, the "BEACH BUGGY." I have already applied the precious "FU WAX" "BASE CORT". Unlike other brands of wax, FU WAX's BASE CORT does not grip. This is an excellent product developed as the perfect "BASE CORT"! It is characterized by its ability to be applied finely and evenly without forming large clumps. It is currently sold out, but will be available in stock in July, so please give it a try. Kei and his father are taking turns filming videos while school is on summer vacation. This new board is, 5'7" SUB-DRIVER-JP and This is 5'8"BEACHBUGGY. Please look forward to tomorrow's CA Latest Report Blog.
Learn moreMayhem's thoughts after the WCT event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
As you all know, Jordy Smith won this tournament, and Adriano Di Souza, who came in second, is the new world number one. Two days before the final day, the Mayhem riders had a very tough day. First up was Kolohe vs. Taj. This was the first and last time Kolohe would face Taj, as Taj blocked his path to the next match. It would have been a shame if the two had gone head-to-head in the early heats. At least one of them would have advanced. Kolohe was riding a 6'0 18.63 2.25 F1Stub/Driver hybrid board with the new FCS2 plug fins. Next up, er, the loser, is Brad Simpson. He started well with a high score of 8 points, but couldn't get out of the tube, while his opponent Mick did. He couldn't get the second point. Brad lost, and will stay for the next prime event in Brazil. Second chances are like a lottery. Next up was Travas, who was also eliminated. He was up against the little monster Gabriel Medina. Travas put up a good fight, landing one of the best tube rides of the day, a mid-9 point, but it took two to beat Gabriel. Travas was riding a 5'9" 18.13" 2.13 Driver R pin. He was using the new Origin fins and looked great. And then Taj made a huge mistake. In Round 4 (3-man heat), Taj held onto 9 points. He took off on a big, wall-like wave and finally made an appearance in the deep end. He thought he'd get another 9 points! But then a problem occurred. The problem was that rookie surfer Nat Young was on the same wave. The wave was so deep and big, they were far apart, but Taj was given an interface. Andriano De Souza snuck a tube off the peak and earned himself two high scores. Taj advanced to Round 5, where he had a chance to bounce back, but his opponent was Kelly. Kelly also lost in Round 4, placing third. Bad news for Taj. Kelly pulled away from Taj, and Taj lost. This was Taj's first disappointment of the season. Julian Wilson, we all expected him to do well in this event. He's been blowing everyone away with his free surfing all week. He was landing like a 540 backflip and stuff like that. Julian was challenged to a seesaw battle by a sea bass (Sebastian) and it only took a minute for Julian to catch a small tube, but Sebastian caught a better tube on the same set and made a good move. Julian was riding his usual Mickey Mouse (the one his mom painted), which he shaped for a Snapper. After all the carnage (the amazing Mayhem riders persevering), I felt deflated. The camera was pointed at Mick. Mick was waxing his 5'10 SubDriver, a short, thick hybrid board. I had shaped him for the competition. We went down to the beach for round five. My weekend probably won't be a letdown, because Mick won that heat. He also beat Seabass (Sebastian) in the quarterfinals, but he ended up losing to Jody in the semifinals. Jody seemed to inspire Mick, bringing him into the air dual... something Mick will never be able to beat Jody... Ultimately, I'm happy whenever Mick is on a LOST board. I'm honored to watch a true rail surfing master surf on a board I shaped. I think that board is working really well for him, so we built it right. Thanks Mick for saving my weekend! These were Mayhem's thoughts after the WCT event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
