This is a report from the second day of the NIKE LOWERS PRO. The weather improved a bit today, so there were more spectators than yesterday. Kolohe, who was unexpectedly eliminated yesterday, was the most notable surfer in the morning session. The Heat also had Luke Davies and Brett Simpson on the backup board. Luke was unable to catch a good wave and was eliminated. Mason, who came to CA from Hawaii early on and practiced heavily every day, was also unfortunately defeated. Mayhem appeared on a corkboard, which was very conspicuous and caused quite a stir. Until last weekend, MAYHEM went to Hawaii to get shaped, and apparently he caught some good waves every day. Salt Creek local Pat O'Connell also rode a MAYHEM. In the evening the wind died down and the waves were amazing. After the shoot, we went to LOST Surfboards in San Clemente, where the Luvsurf USA office is located. When I got there, I saw that the boards on the glass platform were indeed Luvsurf boards. The owner, Paul, was busy installing the leash plug. There's no leash plug yet. When I went down to the beach, there were lots of skilled surfers in the water. The ASP Prime event "NIKE LOWERS PRO" starts tomorrow. Next to me was Julian W., who was comparing two MAYHEM boards, the F1-STUB. Brett Simpson was in "WHIPLASH." Placebo's MAYHEM board, and Corey from WHIPLASH also seemed to be in good shape. Luvsurf TV: LOST MAYHEM "SUB-DRIVER" KOLOHE ANDINO Rider: KOLOHE ANDINO Board used: LOST MAYHEM "SUB-DRIVER" FILM & EDIT: Tabrigade Films This is a compilation of footage taken in Australia in 2012 of Kolohe Andino, whose specialty is air reverses with the tail rising high and straight up, riding the SUB-DRIVER, a Mayhem board that he himself developed through repeated test rides to refine the board's shape design. This year's waves in Australia have been poor, making it difficult for the surfers, so they are surfing with the ``SUB-DRIVER'' model, which is perfect for such wave conditions. Even in situations where the SUB-DRIVER board is prone to losing balance and losing speed after performing tricks such as airs, the board quickly regains speed and you can head to the next section. The SUB-DRIVER's unique feature is that the board's wide water contact area allows it to recover easily even if the nose and tail are facing in opposite directions, even if your stance shifts. These are three rides filmed in Newport Beach, California. These three airs were made in one heat of just about 10 minutes at an air show event held by Ghetto Juice Magazine, a free surfing information magazine. The outline is straighter than the ROCKET, allowing for more drive, and the rails held up at the bottom are released and the air is easily achieved by heading to the top. It's a board with excellent drive, but can be ridden on a shorter board, making it suitable for compact beach breaks with a shore break feel where long rides aren't possible, and it's designed to produce speed even in waves with little power. The same airbrush pattern design as this word is the image color design for "V2 ROCKET." He is an international rider for REEF who won the VANS Pier Classic in 2010 when he was still a 2-star. He often stays in San Clemente at the home of his good friend Luke Davis. She is petite, standing at around 165cm tall, so her surfing style is a model for Japanese people to follow, so please take it into consideration. This video, filmed in Australia, also shows poor wave quality, but he's very good at approaching the shore break waves at a beach break with rough terrain, so take a good look at the movements of his body and board. Today, customers from the Murasaki Sports Chiba area gathered at Higashinami for a test drive event. The wind direction was bad in the early morning and the waves were not good, so the break conditions were poor. In the afternoon, an offshore wind started blowing, creating even waves. We took some photos of Hiroki, a TEAM rider who came to help out, surfing, so please take a look. The board I was riding was a 5'11" RNF-EVO. This board really moves, and the paddling is easy, fast, and good. The trick to riding it well is to push the tail down. This allows for a lip that doesn't make the board feel large. The reason it can move so sharply despite its round nose is because of the excellent compatibility with the FLEXLITE-TURBO material.

This is a follow-up to yesterday's interview with Mayhem. Kolohe was instrumental in bringing me back from competing shapes. He helped me to keep my main focus. Taj called me in January of this year and asked if I could fully commit to his requests and ideas. I told him, if you can trust me, the answer is YES! With Julian, he knows that whenever he calls, I will give him my all. At his level, it's difficult to make a firm commitment to a request. How much work do you typically do with pro surfers? Do you give them a lot of stock models to test? Or do you design a special test board and shape it exactly to their needs? I wonder. Usually, surfers all over the world who claim to be professional surfers sniff out my email address and phone number, I'll order one or two. Every once in a while, someone like Taj or Mick will try out one of my boards that someone else has (they test ride Kolohe boards) and ask me to incorporate what they feel into their own board. I currently have four kids in my care who are like this, and if they weren't genuine LOST team riders (like Mason Ho, Chris Ward, etc.), I wouldn't give them a free board. How can I buy the same boards that professional surfers use? Professional boards are made to be lighter and more fragile than the boards you buy at the store, but if you say, "I want one with a team glass (ultra-lightweight) finish, even if it's as fragile as Kolohe," we can make it the same, so if you custom order a board with team glass, you can get the exact same board.
