Check out the photos of Masato's continuous backside lip action at a small beach break. If you are not good at backside lip action, please take a closer look. Backside riding requires a firm core, The key is how well you can turn your upper body from the waist up towards the wave. Masato starts his lip action by opening his left palm and making a bottom turn. By twisting your palm upwards to match the waves, The movement is in the order of hands, body, and board. Once you can do this movement, you'll be able to hit the board vertically. This form feels like riding the wave many times on a daily basis. Try shadow surfing and imagine it as you head out to sea!
