This is the Mayhem family's surfboard rack. In the morning, I ride my bike from the Mayhem house to Upper Trestle. Of course, our trip photographer, Toku, was also there. This is a Mayhem brand board with art painted on it, before there was a brand called Lost. Mayhem was doing both the shaping and the art. The giant Mayhem is the difference between an adult and a child. Shower time after the evening session. The latest version of Lost Energy Drink is a huge hit in California! She is the youngest of Mayhem's three children. Mayhem family Christmas tree. These are Christmas stockings that Mayhem's grandmother knitted for him when he was a child. The cocktail is Mayhem's special super strong margarita. Mayhem cooked dinner, she's not only great at shaping but also great at cooking! It's the minions who are being used. Big waves are forecast for San Clemente tomorrow!

Nishii is heading to San Clemente, California!

This is sudden, but Nishii is heading to San Clemente, California! This is because there will be a business meeting about a new Lost model. This time, after much deliberation, I decided to take the RNF-Q and SD3 from the board rack. If the waves are head-over-sized and crisp with a north swell, it's SD3! If it's small, it's RNF-Q. Apparently, the water temperature in California is dropping in December. This time I brought my boots with me. Quad boards have become more popular in Japan this year, and more people are riding them. It seems that in California, the home of quads, high-performance boards with quad fins are all the rage. Also, it seems like a lot of 5-fin boards are being developed, adding a center fin to a quad. Five-fin boards may be a trendy word next year!!! I'm looking forward to it. This time, we were accompanied by Toku, the video camera operator, so our luggage was full of equipment. I'm worried about the plane being overcharged. We'll report back from the scene!

We arrived in Padang.

We arrived in Padang. We are about to board a boat called Mikumba and set sail for the Mentawai. I am currently in a 99-year-old building that was formerly a bank and has been renovated into a hotel. Here are some snaps of the town of Padang. There is no wind, so we head towards our destination, Mentawai, while watching the sunset over the calm sea. According to the online wave forecast report, we can expect consistent south swells of 3-6 feet. I'll update the blog on my way back.
