About the Double Dart Structure

The Double Dart boards feature BlackDart surfboard technology, a trademarked surfboard manufacturing technique developed by Florida-based epoxy composites pioneer Drew Bagget.

In 2014, ...Lost Surfboards collaborated with Drew Bagget to fine-tune and license BlackDart technology. BlackDart boards were one of the first custom-built, full-deck, carbon fiber board technologies ridden by competitive surfers and widely adopted around the world. BlackDart boards became world famous through the collaboration between Tesla Motors and ...Lost Surfboards. However, the LOST/BlackDart boards offered to Tesla Motors were a little too early and ahead of the surfboard market, released before the general public was ready to embrace them. To this day, however, we continue to build custom BlackDart boards for a small, dedicated group of LOST enthusiasts.

Over the last few years, full carbon surfboards have become popular in the surfboard market, and as their effectiveness has been proven by other manufacturers and elite level surfers, the full carbon concept has become more well-known and is finally being accepted by the general public.

After years of development, we're offering a limited number of our new Double Dart boards in stock. As the name suggests, the Double Dart uses the same proprietary carbon and S-glass hybrid BlackDart fabric. The difference is that the Double Dart features two separate carbon fiber shells, vacuum-glassed to completely encase a 1.5oz high-density EPS core, separated at the rail edges of the board.

To avoid making the Double Dart board too stiff or "hard," we've made the overlapping rail wraps between the top and bottom as short as possible. Only a 4-ounce fiberglass cover layer completely encases the wrap and rail. This subtle rail wrap nuance helps the Double Dart board bend and twist more freely.

Our proprietary BlackDart carbon fiber runs unidirectionally (nose to tail only) while our S-glass fiber runs laterally from rail to rail. Unlike traditional two-way carbon weaves, this material makes the board much more flexible, less stiff, and less brittle than boards made with traditional two-way carbon fiber fabrics.

The benefits of BlackDart carbon fiber's quick response and instant memory flex mean the board reaches top speed, tracks the line you want, and bounces back effortlessly when you hit the wave. This responsive, lifelike board will amaze and impress you from the first round.

WARNING: Carbon fiber surfboards heat up easily! They, like all darker colors, will heat up in the sun so be careful.

These are high-end carbon fiber surfboards. Please handle them with care. Do not leave them in your car for extended periods of time. While you're sunbathing at the beach with your board, keep it out of direct sunlight. It can overheat and cause bubbles. Protect your investment and take proper care of it. We recommend storing these boards safely in a heat-reflective white or light-colored board case. If you plan to spend time in the sun before or after surfing, bring your board case with you to the beach. If your board gets dented, be sure to let it dry and repair it properly with epoxy resin. With proper care and love, these boards will hold up extremely well, remain light and very lively on the waves, and provide long-lasting surfing enjoyment.
