What board did MAYHEM choose for his first surfing ride of 2023?
President and shape designer of LOST surfboards, What board did Matt "MAYHEM" Biolos choose for his first surfing ride of 2023? From the Christmas holiday season to the New Year I went to Mammoth Mountain, where I have a vacation home, to snowboard, which I love. After that, I went on a business trip to New York and Florida, Apparently he couldn't surf for over a month. He said it had been a while since he last went surfing, so I was looking forward to seeing what kind of board he would bring... This GLYDRA is a model that is currently attracting attention all over the world. When I asked him about it, he said that he chose the GLYDRA because it was the easiest and most reliable board he owned. I see! That'll be helpful when choosing a board! The GLYDRA's ease of riding is well-known even in California!

Nishii can surf too easily, I had been reserving it for riding except on special occasions... Personal board! 6'2" 『GLYDRA』 32.5cl, I went surfing so please take a look at the photos. The San Clemente area where I usually surf on this day Because it was a flat condition, I went surfing at a beach called Salt Creek where there were a few waves of a certain size. This was the best wave point in this area today, Anticipating that it would be crowded with strong people, I loaded my GLYDRA into the car and headed out. The paddle is easy, the takeoff is fast because of the length, When you ride the waves, it moves like a fish. Ride it all the way to the inside like a longboard, It was a super fun session! Young people will ride the waves too much and cause trouble, so please do not ride GLYDRA. This board is for adults over 40 years old only! It's fun to have one! I highly recommend it!

A new model has arrived from LOST! Long fish "GLYDRA" arrives in Japan for the first time!! An all-around everyday board that can be used both domestically and internationally! GLYDRA was born as an idea from a partner shop in New Jersey, where there are many days with small waves. I chased hurricanes and spent an afternoon surfing with the Heritage Surfboards staff in the summer of 2020. They mentioned the popularity of LOST's small wave machine, the HYDRA model, and said there was room for further development. They wanted a monster-like weapon for the tiny waves they typically surf every day. They spoke about the growing interest in the mid-length board genre, which is trending globally, and the growing needs of themselves and their users. "Hey Matt, you know what we want? Something between your Smooth Operator and a Hydra. Mid-length, kind of a fishboard. Longer, wider, with a Hydra tail shape, that would be a great board to ride in these waves." - Kev Mo (Heritage). I thought it was a great idea. Back home in San Clemente, I started developing the Glydra design. I wanted a board that was never straight or horizontal, but always free and moving as well as possible. This longer Glydra would move up and down on the wave, change direction quickly, and feel "loose." Like a long, slender glider, it paddles and trims quickly, always remaining free and turning easily on the waves. We've created a board that can even perform full rail cutbacks in powerless waves. This is a mid-length glider version of the original HYDRA model. The result is a board design that is functional, beautiful, and has a cutting-edge style. "GLYDRA" Glydra! https://youtu.be/0jYSiX453EA Depending on your skill level and preference, it's about 12 inches longer than the HYDRA and other FISH. Or you can ride it on a board that is about 12 inches longer than your height. Indeed, the paddling performance is excellent and it catches any wave with ease. In order to be able to do this, you can create multiple spells and maintain many of their elements. We made both minor and major adjustments. We didn't just drag HYDRA out and call it a day. • Outline: We used a snowboard-influenced "Pelagic" sidecut outline, but reduced the sharpness of the angle. The sidecut locks you in when carving, allowing you to tighten your turn radius while still maintaining speed and control. • Bottom: The GLYDRA features a double concave inside the single concave hull. The rails are prominently cut along the rails. The triple concave allows for more overall rocker, resulting in proper turns and a more vertical surfing surface. The GLYDRA's rocker adds lift and speed. The heavily cut rails add release, allowing the board to roll from rail to rail. This rail surfing, combined with the concave bottom and high volume of the board, allows for freedom of surfing. The GLYDRA allows for more on the wave than just being fast on the surface. • locker: As mentioned above, the main thing we did was increase the overall rocker enough as the board length increased. The longer rail lines, especially under your feet and through the middle of the board, help the board curve in small waves and feel freer. The main thing most surfers experience when riding longer boards is that the board feels stiff and sticky. The GLYDRA eliminates that and is a super fun, easy-to-ride, stretched small wave machine. Call it a longfish. Call it a miniglider. Call it midlength mayhem. Call it what you like. If you want to have fun in the waves, get in the water with the GLYDRA and get the job done. • Dual Diamond Tail: Defining Features: It combines the features of both a Swallowtail and a Diamond Tail. The cutout, stringer-less tail shortens the centerline rocker, reducing the surface area behind your back foot and making the board lighter to ride. The Double Diamond shortens the rail line, resulting in quick, powerful, controlled turns that are much easier to handle. The Glydra has significantly more tail pull in the last 18 inches, adding more curve to the outline. This means fewer rails engage the wave face at once, allowing the board to rotate freely and ride even when standing forward. • Deck lines and foils: Updated to suit longer boards rather than shorter, chunkier boards. The Glydra maintains a thicker centerline through its length, but uses rails that are much more tapered and thinner than the Hydra, increasing deck roll. This brings the deck line closer to the curve of the rail rocker. When riding on the rails, water rolling across the deck helps longer boards cut back and carve tighter turns. The tapered rails penetrate water better, maintaining favorable sensitivity. The tail is thin and slightly boxy, featuring a pronounced upward "kick" angle, making the Glydra even more of a trim-and-turn machine. • Fins: This is a 5 fin setup. With a tail this wide, you don't need a single fin box. Twin, tri, quad, and most other fin setups allow for countless ways to ride the GLYDRA. • A small set of thrusters - Stuffing a turn and hitting the lip...no worries! • Split Keel Quad – Down the Line Speed and Curve…Absolutely! • Big set of Twins + small trailer – especially in small surf…for sure! • And then there's my personal favorite, the larger Twin paired with the smaller set of rear mini-quads. We also recommend the Twin/Quad combo, which combines the best of both the Two+1 and Quad setups. Now, have fun with "GLYDRA"!
