This page features four surfboards made from new materials.

There is a page I would like you to see more than yesterday's DeLorean ad. It is this one. This page features four surfboards made from new materials. 1. AVISO, the strongest board made from carbon! 2. The lightest EPS material, made with Marco foam! 3. Lightweight yet strong, it doesn't absorb water. XTR! 4. PLACEBO: A flexible molded board that inherits the Lost Split! The Love Surf handling board took up an entire page. As a cutting edge shortboard pro shop, we can do things like this. Which new material will you choose for your next board?

I've been doing video shoots.

"5'10" EPS/PSYCHO WARD" Toku-san, our exclusive video cameraman I went on a test ride and filmed the 5'10" EPS/PSYCHO WARD and the 5'8" XTR/4FIN-SHARK. The photos were taken by our in-house videographer, Toku. We filmed the video at a beach break with a clear, offshore wind in clear skies. Once I've ridden them a bit more, I'll post my impressions and a riding video, so look forward to it! Also, I was half asleep early in the morning and forgot to put my wetsuit in the car, which was a big mistake... I had just been on the highway, but had to go back home to get it, and missed the good morning waves... Everyone, please be careful not to forget anything when you go to the beach. (In the past, I've arrived at the beach and found my board gone...)

On nice days, I paint boards.

1. Apply masking tape to the design (5'6" 4-FIN SHARK/XTR) 2. Spray (5'6" 4-FIN SHARK/XTR) 1. Apply masking tape to the design (5'10" psycho ward/EPS) 2. Spray (5'10" psycho ward/EPS) 3. Here are photos of the two completed boards. Today, I spent the morning surfing at Katakai Fishing Port (there were so many people I panicked at the spot!), and then I painted two of my custom-ordered boards that I had finished the other day: a 5'6" 4-FIN SHARK/XTR and a 5'10" Psycho Ward/EPS. The weather was nice and dry, so the spray dried quickly and it was the perfect day for painting boards. The photo shows the board after 1. applying masking tape to the design, 2. spraying it with paint, and 3. completing the design. When you paint your own board, you'll feel attached to it even before you ride it! I'm looking forward to riding it!

This board is currently out of stock.

These two photos are of Inertia, a factory I visited the other day that laminates, sands, and airbrushes Rost boards. What I want you to see is that when a board is laminated, resin inevitably drips onto the floor, pooling up and making it messy and difficult to remove. However, here, the floor is covered with sand, which makes it easy to peel off and simplifies maintenance. I've visited many glass factories, but I think this is a great idea that only Inasha has. Also, the round nose fish/quad/EPS boards being laminated on the laminating table have the MAYHEM TUNED FOR JAPAN mark on the bottom of the tail. This is proof that Mayhem has adjusted the cross and rail shape for the Japanese market. We will be stocking about five of these boards around mid-October, so stay tuned!

Ward and Andy with wasabi!

(Posted on) September 25, 2006, 8:37 PM This photo was taken just after Chris Ward finished his heat at the recent CALIFORNIA TRUSTLESS. The surfboard he was using was none other than the Japan-exclusive Wasabi model. Ward competed in the WCT on this 6'1" Wasabi model, 19 inches wider and with a swallow tail. Recently, the Wasabi has been a big hit with Mayhem riders, and Andy was also using a Wasabi model in his first heat! Andy's Wasabi was 6'1" long with a Diamond tail. When I later asked Mayhem why he chose the Diamond tail, he told me that Andy had requested a board that was 6'1" long but had the movement of a 6'0" board, which was a difficult request. That's when Mayhem came up with the idea of combining the Diamond tail with the Wasabi. The Diamond tail shortens the rails, making the board feel shorter than its actual length. Andy, riding this board, finished first in his heat and gave an impressive thumbs-up to Mayhem. Everyone, we look forward to your Wasabi orders! ★Both Ward and Andy were using EPS foam/MARKO blanks. P.S. Mayhem, for some reason, calls this Wasabi an SD3. Both Ward's and Andy's boards still had the SD2 markings.

I met the brothers Corey and Shea.

(Posted on) September 12, 2006, 4:50 PM Today, I went to ASR, the biannual trade show held in San Diego, California, for California's largest surf and skateboard manufacturer. I met Corey and the Sierra brothers at the AVISO booth. This is a photo. Corey told me that he'd finally opened a surf shop in Florida, and that Presebo boards are selling really well. Corey is one of Florida's most famous surfers, so it's no surprise that he has a huge fanbase in his hometown. Maybe everyone is hoping to surf like Corey with Presebo boards...
