Typhoon No. 10

(Posted on) August 19, 2006, 5:51 PM This photo shows me riding the swells from the recent Typhoon No. 10. The spot was my favorite reef break in Zushi. The tube section didn't open up much that day, but the photo was taken by pro Ikeda Jun, who was the cameraman that day, riding his longboard on the inside. He's always cheerful and talks to himself, but he also makes longboard videos, and I'm impressed by his talent. Thank you, Jun, for Typhoon No. 10!

RNF-Q is now complete

(Posted on) August 19, 2006, 5:43 PM The RNF-Q I ordered from Mayhem this spring is finished! I'm looking forward to finishing it off with some homemade paint to give it an 80's vibe and riding it. Typhoon No. 10 is approaching, so I don't think there will be any problems finding waves to test, so I'm looking forward to my first ride. The RNF-Q is all the rage, so I can't wait to ride it. In fact, the latest XTR version of the tri-fin round nose fish was completed the other day and is currently being tested, so I have two boards to ride for the first time, so it looks like I'll be busy testing boards. I'll be riding both of them thoroughly and posting my impressions on the site, so please stay tuned!

CORY + RNF-Q (Round Nose Fish 4fin)

(Posted on) August 10, 2006, 8:22 PM We have just received one RNF-Q (Round Nose Fish 4-fin model) in stock. It's a popular model that's gaining popularity, but we're currently unable to showcase it on the website due to pre-orders. This board is recommended for riders weighing between 60-65 kg. Our very own Corey Lopez was featured on the cover of the recently released American Surfer magazine, riding this RNF-Q! This shows how much attention the RNF-Q is receiving around the world. By the way, Corey, that air is cool! I wonder how her (fiancee) Jane is doing?

surf 1st is finally released! Comes with DVD.

(Posted on) July 2, 2006, 00:17 Hey everyone, the Surf 1st magazine that I've been promoting a lot recently is now on sale, and it features the Maldives boat trip! The photos on the double page spread are so beautiful, so be sure to check it out! The DVD included with the book features a lot of riding footage, as well as non-surfing activities like meals on boat trips. The DVD also contains a lot of staged portrait footage, which is unsightly, but please bear with me as this is at the request of the sponsors. It's packed with riding footage of me, Placebo, and AVISO! In the special feature on new surfboard materials, there's a double-page spread featuring AVISO and Placebo! I also appear in a FAB ad wearing sunglasses! I wonder what he looks like? It's a bit strange, but please take a look.

Surf 1st magazine will be released at the end of June!

(Posted on) May 26, 2006, 11:49 PM Ishimaru, a sales representative for Surf 1st magazine, brought us some photos from a boat trip they took to the Maldives in April this year. Most of the photos were of the boat ride, but the color of the Maldivian water was so beautiful that the photos were even better than I expected. In fact, the photographer, Kondo, is known as a master of Japanese surf photography, and he's very skilled. The results were very atmospheric. Also, footage from this trip will be featured on page 26 of Surf 1st magazine when it goes on sale at the end of June. What's more, footage from the trip will be compiled into a DVD and included as an attachment! I think it will give you a good idea of not only the waves but also what the boat trip was like, so I urge everyone to buy this issue and take a look! Just don't skim through it (lol).

What are the roots?

(Posted on) May 18, 2006, 6:28 PM Last weekend, I went to Kokunohama in Mie Prefecture to help out at a client's surfing competition. The waves were waist- to chest-high, and beautiful offshore, but the number of tetrapods had increased since my last visit, and the locals said the waves had gotten worse. Unfortunately, seeing so many surfers having fun in the ocean on the weekend made me want to surf, so I went and enjoyed a good wave. The AVISO 5'5" round nose board was perfect for the wave quality and worked great. Another thing that really surprised me was that there are a lot of people with the name Nishii in Ise! Driving from Matsusaka, a town famous for Matsusaka beef, through Ise Shrine and on to Kokunohama, I was surprised to see so many signs for Nishii Hospital, Nishii Construction, Nishii Restaurant and so on. As I passed by, I asked the locals, "Are there a lot of people with the name Nishii around here?" and they said, "Yes, there are a lot of them." And when I asked them, "Do you have any classmates with the name Nishii?" they replied, "Yes, there are a lot of them!" I've been wondering lately whether my roots could be in Ise.

New 5'5" AVISO Round Nose Fish

I am currently developing a new 5'5" AVISO Round Nose Fish. The current 5'6" model is too big for me, so I am developing an AVISO Round Nose Fish that fits me perfectly. The size is 5'5", width 49cm, thickness 5.4cm. I recently test rode it at the reef breaks in Chiba, Chitose and Zushi. The conditions were waist-chest high side onshore in Chitose, and weak offshore waves in Zushi, with beautiful knee-high waves. The takeoff of this board is as you would expect from an AVISO, It was easy to paddle and glided out of the swell quickly. It's narrower and shorter than the 5'6" I'd been riding, so it moves more nimbly and is closer to my ideal. If I were to be greedy, I'd go for one size thinner to reduce the buoyancy. However, the best thing about AVISO round nose fish is that it's able to overflow a little and surf using the air buoyancy, so if it were thinner, this advantage might be lost. In that case, an XTR or foam board round nose would be sufficient. This size is suitable for people who are 165-173cm tall and weigh around 50-60kg. We can make it to order, so if you are interested, please feel free to contact us. The official sales announcement and catalog listing will be several months away, so if you order now, you'll get your hands on one before anyone else. You can also take advantage of the order fair until May 14th, so please consider it! How about ordering a custom color? The most popular color is the translucent taint color, which allows you to see the black carbon cross. You can order any color you like, including blue, red, green, pink, and yellow! Also, the rail color shown in the photo cannot be ordered because the white color will peel off, but you can order the rail in a different color! PS. This 5'5" is equipped with FUTUERS fins.
