trip
If you go to Lower Trastels on a Sunday afternoon,
Nishii is in CALIFORNIA. I had three boards in my car and the gear I needed to get down to Lower. Mountain bikes and other surf equipment with board racks. For cars coming to surf at Trestles There are bike racks installed almost everywhere like this. The board is a Magic 5'4" Motivetor from CA. It has the same airbrushed color as the new LOST surf skate model, the MOTIVETOR model. You can purchase it at this WEB★Store. http://www.luvsurf.co.jp/item_detail/itemId,910/ It's normal in CA and overseas, It's not very popular in Japan, so I recommend it to everyone. Apply wax to the grip! This provides a stronger grip and prevents unnecessary slippage. When I went to Lower Traverse on Sunday afternoon, the waves were amazing. Shane B was out surfing with his son Noa. Starting tomorrow, we will be infiltrating Lost's surfboard factory and reporting on it!

Learn moreIntroducing the Kolohe Andino Pipeline board.
Today's waves are at LOWER. There is a break, but the swell is not moving in the right direction. No one was surfing because the waves weren't as shoulder-heavy as usual. We went to UPPER where the swell direction and waves looked good. To surf, you have to go under the Amtrak train bridge and come out onto the sand. Work is underway to replace the bridge. The waves were set like this, making for a super long ride. A few days ago, I mentioned that the terrain resembles a river mouth. The first photo is taken around the back position in the foreground, where the person in the first photo is waiting for a wave. You can ride this long, all the way to where the second tree is. After that, we went to the Lost Surfboard Factory. Kolohe 6'6" gunboard and Also Kolohe Andino's 6'9" long, Kolohe's about to fly to Hawaii Mayhem was shaping boards for Pipeline.
Learn moreThis is a report from inside the Epoxy Pro "XTR" factory.
I went to the Epoxy Pro " XTR " factory. We have been checking the boards that are taking longer to be completed than the many custom orders we have received from our customers. I checked the progress of the board production and instructed them to prioritize the production. This work was carried out by the owner, Habiyar, who inspected each bottle one by one while looking around the factory. I will organize the order in which I will make the board rack. Here, Poto, who is in charge of XTR glass lamination, is cutting the marks to be put into the board. The equipment I was working on was Since the boards were being sent to Japan, we also prepared and laminated the MAYHEM TUNED FOR JAPAN mark. This is the process of mixing the epoxy resin and hardener to glass laminate the XTR board. Using a wooden spatula, slowly mix each piece by hand, taking about 3 minutes. And the mixed XTR epoxy resin is Further impurities are removed through a filter. Epoxy resin is very delicate, so the amount of hardener and the hardening temperature are all carefully controlled in the factory. It is formulated and tested throughout the production process. The XTR epoxy resin used is called XTR20.
Learn moreThis is the fourth and final trip report to Nias Island!
During the few days I stayed at Lagundri Bay on Nias Island, I was unable to connect to the internet. We asked a local to rent us a motorbike and rode two people on the bike over rough roads to a town called Teluk Dalam in 30 minutes. The only way to connect was through an internet store, which cost about 500 yen per hour. The communication speed is very slow, taking about 5 seconds to receive one email. Here are some snapshots from the journey: A well-balanced lady who looks like she'd be good at surfing. The road is rough with puddles and potholes. It is high enough to overlook Lagundri Bay. (The small red roof in the background is OM House, and the white soupy waves are the main break.) At the entrance to the village, high on the mountaintop, you go up these stairs. Long ago, there was a village like this that was thought to be difficult for enemies to attack. There are still people living on this mountaintop. This is a ritual called stone jumping. In the old days, if you couldn't jump up these stone steps without touching them with your hands, you weren't considered an adult. This is the king's house. There are also cannons. The monkeys displayed in the king's room, It's a wall decoration. Creepy bones. I was allowed to sit in the king's chair. Mr. Tanno from the OM tour looked happy as he got an object in the village. This building is located in Lagundri Bay. Surfboard repair shop. Preparing for quiver shots. If you go to Nias, be sure to remember the location of this sharp spot in the reef called KEYHOLE. If you get out from here, it's the shortest walking distance on the reef and it's easy. A great view from OM House. Behind the OM House was a place for relaxation similar to a community center. On the way back, there are several bridges like this one. First, we will take a Lion Air propeller plane back home, which will take two days. Just before arriving in Medan, I saw a smoking mountain from the plane. Is this a volcano? Heavy traffic in the city of Medan. Unlike Nias Island, luxury cars are on the road. Medan cityscape. The plane departed from Jakarta about three hours late and returned safely to Japan. The details of this trip will be published in Surf Trip Journal magazine next year. Stay tuned!

There are more motorbikes than cars on the island, and gasoline is sold individually like this. Rupiah has more units when exchanged. This night gecko is not upside down in the photo, but rather upside down himself. Lobster is cheap and delicious on Nias Island. This is the newly built Nias House by OM Tours. When it becomes low-tailed, a unique pattern appears. The building on the right is the judges' tower. On the left is OM House. As such, it is located in the best spot in the bay to see the waves. Can't you see it on my face? This is a surprisingly little-known machine break from Nias's Inside FUN WAVE light show. There are even professional local surfers, and the waves are good, so the level is high. But the good news is that even at their peak, they still give up waves to visitors. BBQ chicken. They also have fried chicken, but Nias' chicken is rich and delicious. It's a wild banana. It's a palm tree. My surf trip buddy Jun PRO is getting better and better and I'm happy to see him moving up in the JPSA rankings. This is Kaifu's Taiki PRO, whose tall stature and skillful surfing make it hard to believe he's only 19 years old. Photographer Kenyu and writer Matsumura are looking for a location to take photos. This is the Nias way to dry laundry. We immediately went around selling the octopus we caught, and Jun won this one for about 500 yen, so we all shared it. Shuhei is negotiating the price. We brought the required sticker to the inn to commemorate our trip. Freddie, a local surfer and caretaker of OM House. Toast and coffee for breakfast. I was worried, The food is absolutely fine, Pizza, spaghetti, ramen, nasi goreng, fried chicken, shrimp, chicken, beef, The menu was so extensive that I had trouble deciding what to eat each time, with items like pancakes and fruit. 10,000 rupees is about 100 yen.

This is the second report of the NIAS trip. From the sky just before arriving at Gunung Sitoli Airport on Nias Island, I found some nice breaking waves at the mouth of the river. The board will be carried from the luggage compartment. Someone was pushing the cart back and forth many times. People waiting for their checked baggage. It takes three hours to travel from Gunung Sitoli Airport to our destination in two cars. Convenience store? On the way, we stopped off at a local restaurant for lunch. The road to Lagundri Bay. There are waves along the way that look like they could be surfed, and it seems like you can surf here too. This is what the houses on Nias Island look like. The room. In this room, with the photographer Kenyu, This is my second stay here following my trip to California last month. There are three main breaks in Lagundri Bay, one of which is called Indigator. Located off the right side of the main break, if you don't have the size, you will break in shallow water. It's a dangerous light, dreadful wave. Delicious pineapple for about 100 yen. This is the main break. If you connect it to the inside, there's also a FUN WAVE break. I became good friends with Manga, a local surfer. The members this time are (from left): Shuhei Okada from WEST/J'S, Aoshima-san from OM Tour, Matsumura, a writer for STJ magazine, was also there. I was staying at KEYHOLE, the closest place to paddle out to the main point. It's a building with an antenna. To be continued...
Learn moreNishii returned safely from NIAS Island, Indonesia today!
Nishii returned home safely from NIAS Island today. I will be reporting on the trip in about four parts on my blog. This is a Lion Air flight from Jakarta to Medan. On the plane, the young pro from Shikoku, Kurokoshi Taiki, 19 years old, was looking back on the past. I was surprised to hear that he had recently contracted dengue fever in Bali. People waiting for their checked baggage to be released. Upon arriving in Medan, the exit looked like this. The pro riders who are part of the trip are: There were three of us, including myself and Jun Shiiba, a pro who was ranked second in the JPSA rankings in 2010. We arrived safely in Medan, and after taking some commemorative photos, we headed to our hotel in Medan for our first night. This is an object at the entrance of the Dharmadeli Hotel, where, for some reason, I always stay when I'm in Medan. Colorful stone rings are sold at the hotel's gift shop. At this point it was 11pm (1am Japan time) so I checked in at the front desk. When it comes to beer in Indonesia, BINTANG is the one. The next morning, I woke up at 5am, got on a bus, and headed to my third plane. The last plane was a propeller plane, and we were heading to Gunung Sitoli Airport on Nias Island! We had a hard time loading the six people's board cases. To be continued...
