This masterpiece is celebrating its 25th anniversary!

The masterpiece of Aeoros, the RNF, has been released as the 25th anniversary model, the RNF'96. This year marks 25 years since the impactful release of the high-performance fishboard RNF. It's no exaggeration to say that its history is the history of fishboards. This year marks a very special 25th anniversary. In this memorable year, we present this new masterpiece to all those who have been hoping for a classic RNF someday.

The shock that changed the history of FISH boards is back!

In 1996, a small shaping room in San Clemente, California, debuted the RNF Round Nose Fish, a high-performance fishboard with a rounded nose and narrow tail that no one had ever seen before. Since then, it has been copied by brands around the world and has a long history, but it has also served as the base design for a succession of derivative models. LOST's RNF was the first to propose the now-common fishboard with easy paddling, fast takeoff, and shortboard-like maneuverability.

The board that helped LOST surfboard shape designer Matt Mayhem Biolos gain global recognition as a surfboard designer about 25 years ago was the ``Rounf Nose Fish'' model, the base of the newly released ``RNF'96'' model. In 1996, shortboarders around the world were riding boards that were around 6'1", narrow and thin, with sharp rocker like a potato chip, a pointed nose, and a thin squash tail. The arrival of the LOST "Rounf Nose Fish" model surprised surfers around the world who were riding such narrow and thin boards. At the time, young surfers like Chris Ward, Corey Lopez, and the late Andy Irons, who had yet to join the World Tour, rode this "Rounf Nose Fish" in a VHS movie released by LOST titled "5'5" X 19 1/4" and showed revolutionary surfing, cutting up waves with innovative maneuvers on everything from Hawaii's reef breaks to beach breaks like Waimea's shorebreak and Rocky's. I'm sure there are many veteran surfers who were engrossed in watching the LOST movie "5'5" X 19 1/4" on VHS or DVD some 25 years ago. LOST's Round Nose Fish is a short board with a round nose that no one has ever seen before, but it can ride everything from big barrels to small waves.It overturned the previous impression that FISH boards were heavy boards with wide tails that could only move slowly and leisurely.

The RNF model has influenced the design of fishboards all over the world, and there are plenty of stories behind it. Some active WSL World Tour riders, who were still teenagers 25 years ago, were so influenced by the footage of them riding the RNF in the 5'5" X 19 1/4" movie released by LOST at the time that they actually rode the RNF. One famous pro surfer, when asked "If you could only have one board, what board would it be?", replied "Mayhem's RNF" when ordering an RNF from LOST...

Double-ender design that inherits the tradition of magic boards

The RNF'96 features a captivatingly classic yet beautiful outline. Not only does it feature the meticulous, meticulous, and seamless design of world-class shape designer Matt Mayhem Biolos, but it also features a "double-ender" design, which is said to be the magic rule of board design, with the board being 12 inches wide from the nose and 12 inches wide from the tail. While staying true to the basics, the RNF'96's design is fine-tuned, incorporating a generous amount of his own experience, to support your surfing.

■ The original rocker curve "RNF" has the same curve that has been proven for 25 years.

■ Outline curve: 12 inches from the nose and 12 inches from the tail, both widths are the same. The curve added to the tail is about 6 inches wider and more precise. One of the successes of the original RNF back in 1996 was that, unlike most other FISH boards, the tail width was narrow, closer to that of a typical high-performance shortboard. This allows you to surf with much more tail control than the usual wide-tailed FISH design.

■ The bottom concave has been fine-tuned to accelerate the combination of single concave, double concave, and VEE towards the tail end more than the original.

We spent time making it better than the original. Starting in late 2020, we set out to create a better RNF, drawing on the experience, knowledge, and overwhelming feedback of the past 25 years. This involved extensive testing and updates, including Kolohe, Coco, Ian Crane, Crosby Cola, other key players, and myself (MAYHEM). The result: the RNF'96 performs better than we expected, delivering a versatile, ripping, and fun ride for surfers of all skill levels.
