Comparing QUAD and TRI fins, is WAX better for traction?
The south swell continued, The waves were smaller today but this was enough. The ROCKET is currently being tested with the Word 5 fin, quad and quad fin back fins. I tried riding with a tri-fin set on the center fin. Quads are thicker and the rails lean more easily on the slope of the waves, without the board getting caught. The turns are smooth and it's easy to pick up speed on the upswing. The tri-fin setup with a smaller center fin made the turn at the top looser and the board turned over more easily. Since the movement is centered around the tail, the lip action causes the board to move at a sharp angle. See the wax being applied to the traction in this photo? Applying wax to the traction pads will increase grip. That sudden slippage will be reduced. Kelly and many other skilled riders apply wax to their traction. Of course, I also applied top wax to the ROCKET I rode today. Please give it a try!

Learn moreEpoxy PRO reports on converting LOST boards to XTR specifications!
It is very popular at Love Surf, but it takes more time and effort than regular boards, so the number that can be produced is limited. We are always busy with repeat orders from high-end users who prefer waterproof and durable products. The LOST surfboards that were shaped in San Clemente were This is a report from Epoxy PRO, a company in Oceanside that completes everything from glass lamination to sanding to XTR specifications. This is a board from a customer who placed a custom order with us in Japan. This is the XTR V-FLEX specification of the ``SUB-DRIVER-JP'' model. We are now at the stage where we will insert the pin lines and apply the final coating. If we can get this far, including the shipping time from the USA, we should be able to deliver it to you around mid to late October. In a separate glass room in the building, The XTR 3D CARBOLIC "SUB-DRIVER-JP" model is placed on the stand. Before glass lamination, all crosses and marks are prepared and arranged to make it easy to work with. The mark on the deck goes on top of the first cross. Apply a thin layer of XTR resin only to the mark area, and then place the cloth on top and laminate it to prevent it from slipping. Poto working on XTR 3D CARBOLIC. There is a cross above the mark, and you can see that there are two crosses in the deck. The deck is made of two layers of cloth, making it very durable. The carbon Kevlar rails are carefully laminated with a rubber spatula. The rail is wrapped around the bottom side, and two crosses are wrapped around from the deck. A piece of cross is wrapped around the bottom, making a total of three layers, which are then fused with carbon Kevlar to create the strongest rail. Here, he showed me how to make a carbon stripe test board. In the room where the POLY boards are laminated, Habiya shows us This is mesh carbon that can only be used for Lost Surfboards. This carbon fiber is already available at Love Surf and is on sale. This is the mesh carbon applied to the tail of decks used in POLYESTER Carbon Tail Patch specifications. Javier, last weekend in Ventura, He showed us his trophy, saying he had won the WSA Legend Short Board class for those over 50. Habiyar showed us a test board that he was riding on without any glasses, just using foam. Carbon is embedded around the fins and the box is solidified with resin. The deck and bottom are made of exposed XTR foam, so no wax is required. XTR foam does not absorb water, so you can ride it without laminating the entire surface!!!

It's started! Here's the Day 1 report for "Hurley PRO 2012"! When we headed to the venue where the start time was scheduled for 8am, the waves were onshore on the left side from the south, and yesterday's clean waves were a lie, with drizzle and a cold wind. However, being a WT athlete, he was able to show off his amazing surfing skills without any problems. The large crowd of spectators patiently waited until 9:30 for the weather to improve before the event began! Brett and Kolohe head to morning practice. Jemily wasn't entered in the event but she was surfing. When the event started, what a surprise! In the much anticipated Round 1 Heat No. 1, all three competitors were on MAYHEM boards! Mayhem, who was watching from the beach, commented, "We've never had everyone here before! So happy!" Photo: Jason Kenworthy *Adriano DeSouza 5'8.5" WHIPLASH-TB Photo: Jason Kenworthy *Judson Andre 5'10" F1-STUB Photo: Jason Kenworthy *Brett Simpson 5'11.5" WHIPLASH-TB These are the three of them. Adriano DeSouza has been shaping Mayhem boards since he was 15 years old. Yesterday, Adriano told Mayhem that this was the best magic board he'd ever seen. Brett was too aggressive and couldn't land his moves. In Round 1 Heat No. 2, Mayhem shaped eight boards for this event. Photo: Jason Kenworthy Taj Burrow goes to round 3 with a high speed air reverse! Julian Wilson, riding a 5'10" DRIVER, was conscious of interference and was unable to catch any waves properly, but coming out of the water he was riding at a 9-point mark, so we're looking forward to tomorrow. Photo: Jason Kenworthy If that riding had been counted, he would have come in first place. Adam Melling, who is in the same heat as JW, ordered a board from MAYHEM for the first time and rode it. Photo: Jason Kenworthy He was a completely different person with his 6'0.5" F1-STUB, surfing amazingly. Keep an eye on this guy! Photo: Jason Kenworthy Kolohe, who rides a 6'0" DRIVER, hasn't surfed in three months and today is his 10th day back. It's amazing to see such high speed spinning high air and carving surfing! Kolohe practiced with Luke Davis after the event. I hope he does well tomorrow. Gorkin had some amazing surfing today!!!!!!!!! Among the 40 competitors, including the world's top 32 WT competitors and eight Espresso competitors, 6th place with a high score of 8.33 points! With two high scores of 17.00 points, I came in 4th place! It's amazing that the WT judges used the same criteria as the WT heats to score the results. Gokin's air was amazing, of course, but the way he put the rail in on the first turn and how he sprayed the air was cool too. We're looking forward to Fugokin winning the Espresso Heat final! So, look forward to tomorrow's report!
