Day 1 report for "Hurley PRO 2012" has started!
It's started! Here's the Day 1 report for "Hurley PRO 2012"! When we headed to the venue where the start time was scheduled for 8am, the waves were onshore on the left side from the south, and yesterday's clean waves were a lie, with drizzle and a cold wind. However, being a WT athlete, he was able to show off his amazing surfing skills without any problems. The large crowd of spectators patiently waited until 9:30 for the weather to improve before the event began! Brett and Kolohe head to morning practice. Jemily wasn't entered in the event but she was surfing. When the event started, what a surprise! In the much anticipated Round 1 Heat No. 1, all three competitors were on MAYHEM boards! Mayhem, who was watching from the beach, commented, "We've never had everyone here before! So happy!" Adriano DeSouza has been shaping Mayhem boards since he was 15 years old. Yesterday, Adriano told Mayhem that this was the best magic board he'd ever seen. Brett was too aggressive and couldn't land his moves. In Round 1 Heat No. 2, Mayhem shaped eight boards for this event. Julian Wilson, riding a 5'10" DRIVER, was conscious of interference and was unable to catch any waves properly, but coming out of the water he was riding at a 9-point mark, so we're looking forward to tomorrow. Photo: Jason Kenworthy If that riding had been counted, he would have come in first place. Adam Melling, who is in the same heat as JW, ordered a board from MAYHEM for the first time and rode it. Photo: Jason Kenworthy He was a completely different person with his 6'0.5" F1-STUB, surfing amazingly. Keep an eye on this guy! Photo: Jason Kenworthy Kolohe, who rides a 6'0" DRIVER, hasn't surfed in three months and today is his 10th day back. It's amazing to see such high speed spinning high air and carving surfing! Kolohe practiced with Luke Davis after the event. I hope he does well tomorrow. Gorkin had some amazing surfing today!!!!!!!!! Among the 40 competitors, including the world's top 32 WT competitors and eight Espresso competitors, 6th place with a high score of 8.33 points! With two high scores of 17.00 points, I came in 4th place! It's amazing that the WT judges used the same criteria as the WT heats to score the results. Gokin's air was amazing, of course, but the way he put the rail in on the first turn and how he sprayed the air was cool too. We're looking forward to Fugokin winning the Espresso Heat final! Nishii arrived in LA last night and will start tomorrow, the 16th. I've been at the ASP WT event HURLEY PRO venue since this morning. Since it is the day before the event, all the competitors are doing test rides to see which board they will use. Adriano De Souza looked to be in top form, performing "WHIPLASH-TB"!! Australian Adam Melling was also doing a much better job of surfing on a MAYHEM board. Brazil's Jadson Andre also made two cuts on a MAYHEM board. FCS's president, Taylor, also rides a LOST surfboard, and of course the fins are FCS five-fin specifications. Jody treasures this "F1-STUB" model on his magic board, as it has yellowed from the sun. Julian spent the day today trying out three boards (all MAYHEM). Today, I won the Dacascus contest held on T-Street. In the evening, I attended a LOWERS session. KEI KOBAYASHI! He has improved so much once again. MAYHEM will also be appearing in the evening! Gokin, who will be participating in the Express Session tomorrow as a wildcard (recommended slot), He showed off some cool surfing skills that made him stand out even among the WT surfers. The wave quality here is similar to Shichirigahama in Japan, with a soft reef and sand bottom. This model has a takeoff speed as fast as a tablet, and if you time it well with the waves, you can take off with just 2-3 strokes. The Lancer Evolution starts sliding while the swell is still there, giving you plenty of time to assess the wave's break and read the waves before making your first turn. Even if the board seems to stop on a flat section, it will immediately start moving forward. Anyway, it has excellent speed recovery performance that doesn't stall, Thanks to the calculated flex and rebound of the FLEXLITE-TURBO, you can see the great extension of turns in weak waves. This board, commonly known as the "Lancer Evolution," is an adult round-nose cruising board that can be ridden in an aggressive style like Ward's, but is also suitable for the graceful surfing style of PRO Nishii, who surfs with large lines. Today I went to Nami Beach in northeastern Chiba to hold a LOST surfboard study session. This is a test ride study session for surf sales staff from Murasaki Sports main store and Borders Fact store in Harajuku. Since everyone is a good surfer, the boards are from popular models. ORCA RNF-EVOLUTION V2-ROCKET SUB-DRIVER SUB-DRIVER-JP F1-STUB WHIPLASH-TB We have selected these 7 models for you. Over the course of about four hours, everyone enthusiastically test-rode all the models, regardless of whether the buoyancy was right for them or not. They were able to experience the lightness of movement that is unique to XTR and the extended turn of Speed Flex. Mr. Abe from the main store chose the SUB-DRIVER-JP and V2-ROCKET. Mr. Kubo from the same main store has SUB-DRIVER and F1-STUB. Mr. Tomoda from Borders Facts store liked the V2-ROCKET and F1-STUB. The waves were good today, so the participants were able to get a good understanding of the differences in the performance of the boards. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Brad "Simppo" Simpson has always been a fan of Whiplash models. The new Mayhem-designed "WHIPLASH-TB" model released in 2012 is a better fit than the previous WHIPLASH model. The outline is slightly wider, adding volume to the board and making it more buoyant. This makes it more all-around and a board that can run on beach breaks.
