Learn moreLOWERS Sessions "Maria Ward", "Tyler Wright", "Coco Ho", "Kay Kobayashi"
Today, August 21st, is the last day! Don't miss it! Local artist Maria Ward appeared with her hair in rainbow braids. Although they are girls, they have inherited their father's energy and are getting better and better. The waves were up so Tyler Wright was there too. Riding a MAYHEM board, she's better than the QS level men! Coco Ho has also made an appearance. It took a while to get this board into the lineup because there was resin in the fin box of the new board, so the fins wouldn't fit. The Coco Ho also has carbon on the bottom of the center stringer. Kei Kobayashi was focused on riding only the big set waves. It was good that the size had increased, but since it had been the first increase in size in two weeks, it was more crowded than usual and there were people on the line I wanted to go on, so there were times when I couldn't pull off the tricks I wanted to. The popular "V2-GRINDER" model, which has been sold out for a long time, seems to be in good condition. Until now, we have been fully booked and have not been able to sell the V2-GRINDER stock board in stores, but the next stock board will arrive in early September. All sizes are still available for pre-order, so if you're interested, please make your reservation. Please feel free to contact us for size inquiries or reservations! These videos of "Kei" will be edited and released soon. Stay tuned!
Learn moreCheck out DAY 2 of Kei Kobayashi's session at LOWERS.
Check out DAY 2 of Kei Kobayashi's session at LOWERS. This is the new board I rode for the first time yesterday, the V2-GRINDER . This board was quickly built for the WSL event in Virginia Beach. The surfing on this board looked great to anyone who saw it. The bottom has fuse carbon stuck to the center, It provides even more rebound than a regular center stringer board. This specification can be made to order (plus JPY 8,000) with either POLY or EPS foam, and is recommended for those who want to do high-performance surfing because it provides a strong rebound when you step on the board. This specification is becoming popular worldwide because you can feel the effect. A recent feature of Kay's surfing is that he shows off techniques and maneuvers that he also uses underwater. This is cutting-edge high-performance surfing, using the nose, tail, and even the body. He is scheduled to come to Japan in September, where everyone will be able to see him in person at JPSA matches and free surfing, so please look forward to it. Kei's surfing was really better than anyone else's today, and he even managed to land two air reverse tricks on one wave! Tomorrow's forecast is for the waves to be even bigger, so stay tuned!
Learn moreWhat is DSC, the surfing training gym that supports Kei's performance?
Located in San Clemente, California We would like to introduce you to DSC, a high-performance surfing training gym attended by everyone from junior pros to WQS and WCT surfers. Kei-kun also comes to the club every day in between surfing. DSC is located in the surfboard factory district of San Clemente. Nishii spent about two hours touring the area and taking photos. There were countless different types of training. Standing on one foot on a wobbly round device, while balancing, Play catch with a super heavy rubber ball. The training menu changes daily to suit each individual. You stand on one foot on a squishy rubber board and place the ball in the hole of the color designated by the trainer. By switching your feet and hands and doing this in this position, you can train your body. Kei is currently suffering from an injury to the ligament in his right knee, so he didn't do any hard training this time, but he was still drenched in sweat. DSC's Scott is, of course, a surfer himself. Here, we not only provide training, but also ice and tape injured or unwell parts of the body and provide maintenance. It would be great if there was a facility like this in Japan that caters specifically to surfers!
Learn moreNew Luvsurf TV released! LOST『V2-GRINDER』Kei Kobayashi Katsura Kobayashi VQS 2016
Luvsurf TV:LOST 『V2-GRINDER』 Kei Kobayashi VQS 2016 Rider: Kei Kobayashi Board used: LOST 『V2-GRINDER』 POLYESTER FILM: Koji Nishii EDIT: TABRIGADE FILM This is a compilation of riding from the VQS contest held at Lower Trestle in San Clemente, California in June 2016. He rode this model when he won the first JPSA competition in 2016, winning every race from the trials, and he likes it so much that he has a collection of different lengths and uses it in all his contests. The grinding motion at the top shatters the waves so much that it's no exaggeration to say it was developed specifically for Kay's surfing. Kei is riding this model and has been scoring very consistently in contests. Thanks to his daily athletic training and the ability to focus on riding a good board, it's becoming rare for him to wipe out in competitions, and he doesn't wipe out from any position. The V2-GRINDER is so popular that we can't even list it on our online stock list, and all stock boards are sold out, but we are steadily restocking new boards. All sizes will be restocked in September. Reservations are currently being accepted. At CHIBAPRO QS6000, Pro Noro Reika also won riding the V2-GRINDER . The V2-GRINDER is a contest-winning board! Kei was currently entered as a seeded player in the "WQS 1500 Murasaki Shonan Open " being held in Japan, but due to instructions from O'Neill International, he has been forced to travel to an O'Neill event in Florida and will therefore be unable to compete in this year's "WQS 1500 Murasaki Shonan Open ." It's a shame you won't be able to see his brave performance in Japan, but please take a look at this latest video! We can't wait to see him perform at the US Open in late July. Learn moreYesterday, "Kay" arrived in Japan from BALI and came to Love Surf.
After a long stay in Indonesia, Kay came to Love Surf from Narita on her way back to San Clemente from Bali. He signed used boards in the store, I got some stickers to put on my board. For lunch, I had the kalbi set meal, but one portion wasn't enough for a growing 17-year-old Jamaican kid, so he ate two portions. I stayed in Indonesia for about a month, and after winning the JPSA in Bali, I got an upset stomach from the nasi campur I ate there, and while still feeling unwell, I went to the Mentawai for a QS tournament, then from the Mentawai to Bali to play in another QS tournament, and then returned to CALIFORNIA from Japan. As WSL PRO JR matches are a priority, it's unfortunate that Kei won't be able to participate in future JPSA events due to scheduling conflicts, but please support him as he works hard to reach the much higher goal of the WCT! By the way, during this trip, he apparently ate about 50 bags of his favorite squid, Yotchan Squid.
Learn moreSurfing Life magazine goes on sale tomorrow the 10th! Be sure to check it out!
We'd like to introduce you to Surfing Life magazine, which will be released tomorrow the 10th! Cover won the QS1000 held at Keramas in Bali yesterday for the second consecutive year. This is Taj Burrow riding LOST's "WHIPLASH-TB"! There is also an article about Taji's visit to Panama. The other day I participated in the JPSA for the first time and won my first championship. The person of the moment, Kobayashi Kei, is featured prominently in this issue! From the trial round onwards, other pros were paying attention to Kei, thinking that he might win if he continued like this, so I will post only the photo part of the article I wrote about Kei in order for you to read it. According to Surfing Life magazine, Kei, whose parents are Japanese, grew up in San Clemente, USA, watching and surfing with surfers like Kolohe, Ward, and the Dacaskas brothers as a child, and watching the WSL and WQS every year at his home break, LOWERS.
Learn moreFirst win in his first JPSA appearance! "Kei Kobayashi" 2016 1st Round MURASAKI PRO
(Photo by Nic Nakamura) As we had previously announced, Kei Kobayashi will be competing in the JPSA for the first time as an amateur in early April. He made it through the trial round and won after 11 heats! He also achieved the required 12 points in the middle rounds and earned his JPSA pro qualification on his first tournament. (Photo by Nic Nakamura) Love Surf customers and industry insiders who had watched the JPSA live broadcast were sending me emails and messages saying things like, "It looks like Kay will win!" from a fairly early stage. (Photo by Nic Nakamura) It's definitely worth cheering on athletes who are on the same LOST board. (Photo by Nic Nakamura) Nishii also watched the JPSA live because his favorite surfer, Kei, was there for the first time in a while. However, the judges' scoring system was different to that of the WSL, and they seemed to place more emphasis on the difficulty and speed of the moves, so when I thought he should get 9 points, he got 7 points, and the scores didn't go up, so I was feeling a bit nervous watching. However, in the final, he won with a landslide victory, even for an amateur to see. (Photo by Nic Nakamura) Kei's energy to win was amazing, (Photo by Nic Nakamura) He was riding a LOST board that was better than anyone else's, so he got the best results! (Photo by Nic Nakamura) In the world of competitions, you can't win unless you have a good board. Kei, who is now the current leader of the JPSA, will travel to Mentawai after the final to compete in the QS1000 RIP CURL PRO from April 21st to 24th, and then return to Bali Keramas to compete in the WQS 1000 KOMUNE BALI PRO from May 3rd to 7th. This JPSA tournament saw him compete in 11 heats, making it a good practice tournament for the KOMUNE BALI PRO. (Photo by KENYU) Congratulations Kay! I'm sure Japanese surf media will be publishing photos and videos of this achievement in the future, so I'm looking forward to it! So, everyone! We will also be holding a "Kei Kobayashi" victory sale! Please look forward to this as well!
